Sponsored tweets are going to happen, whether or not disclosure is required. IZEA will obviously profit from offering sponsored tweet opportunities, but at the same time, at least there is clear disclosure involved.

Also, I doubt that Twitter will be overrun with spammy tweets. First and foremost, I am sure (or at least hopeful) that IZEA will require a certain tweet:sponsored tweet ratio, to avoid the opportunity for massive spamming to commence.
Second, most Twitter users realize that they are judged by the quantity, quality and frequency of their tweets, and if they go overboard with the sponsored ones they are bound to lose followers.
Third, I would not be surprised if twitter.com implements some sort of option to block users or tweets from showing up in streams based on certain settings, i.e. block any messages that feature "#spon" or "#ad".

In any case, I freely admit that I plan on jumping on board the sponsored tweets wagon. I will be quite selective with what types of sponsored tweets I post and how frequently I post them, and I will definitely take advantage of the allowance of disclosure, as I am not out to sneak anything by my followers.

Update: it must be some weird formatting issue? Rather than copying and pasting your change, I went through and manually updated the database items/terms. THAT seemed to work.
