You still need the browser to interpret them and be intelligent. We are currently observing a huge surge in web services. Sort of like Ecipse plugins if you know what I mean. Lots and lots of stuff that does not quite interoprate. The browser has a chance to be the glue between the services. And I agree that it needs to be open and pluggable, 100%. This is what we are trying to do at adaptiveblue.

Cheers,

Alex

Re: I’m Joining AdaptiveBlue

Welcome on board Fraser! MySpace does not fit a lot of people's profile, and tastes for that matter. It suffers from major 'unusability' and I think that it will eventually be outwitted by something cleaner like TagWorld.

And I agree with you, collecting and sharing is not about upselling. Image trying to push TV or a book on your circle of friends. Does not sound right.

Alex

Re: 2006/08/16/blueorganizer-a-fresh-look-and-codes-for-myspace/

Peter,

Want to comment separately on downloading software, because this is a really important point. The answer is 99% of the cases is no because you can just do it with the web site. However, with the blueorganizer it is different because its aim is to enhance your browsing experience by making the browser smarter.

You can not do that with the web site it has to be part of the browser. For more of my thoughts on this topic and the motivation behind the blueorganizer, please read my 'Smart Browser where art thou' article in the web 2.0 magazine:
http://ajax.sys-con.com/read/227524.htm

Alex

Re: The Gphone is coming; how Google could rewrite the rules

I have to bet on Apple if this happens. Bigger companies / older companies are just not as quick and not as willing to change. They are conservative, they are risk averse and at times they think that if they wait things will blow over.

Think IBM => Microsoft, think Microsoft => Google. Same trend.

Alex

Re: Indie Music Tech: AdaptiveBlue: No Boiler Plate Autoresponder

Hi Duncan,

We are thrilled to have a post like this and so happy to know that you are happy with the way we treated out.

We have consumer technology, so each individual is important use case.

Please do not hesitate to contact us every time you have question, need help or have an idea for enhancement.
