It's getting harder and harder to get the attention of customers. Consumers are becoming more and more intolerant of in your face advertising. Standard advertising works but creative advertising works better.

I think this guy's business model sucks.

They have a solid business model, that's for sure. At $15 million EBITDA that would be a solid sell.

I had looked at Truemors only once before and it just didn't catch my attention. I go back now, as I'm reading this post, and it still doesn't do anything for me.

Guy, you should definitely follow-up with a redesign of that landing page. The site seems to just run together for me and makes everything hard to read. Maybe it's the icons, the color, or the spacing, but it seems to hurt my eyes.

Maybe it's the branding. "Rumors" is not a hot search term by any means. Is it possible that the name is fooling people? To me you're trying to sell a VW Bug (you own a Ford dealership) to someone (a VW fanatic) that's looking across the street at the VW dealership. With the right advertisement you can sell that Bug. The problem is they won't come back to your lot when it's time to buy their next VW.

Ben - I have known way to many people that "wish they had." Forget that, I'd rather take a calculated risk to achieve success than be a "wish I had."

I agree that John's tactics are a little tacky. His advertising is far from relevant: male enhancement.

I read John's blog from time to time. I moment you stop getting relevant information is the moment you tend to veer from reading a blog. The thing I noticed in May was that he really stopped doing so many non-relevant reviews. I think he realized that he could drive his audience away by continuing this. So, it showed in his monthly income that took a dive in May.
