For example, when you have the browser/IM thingy open and you're logged in, you should automatically be logged into the site, but you're not. So if you reply to a comment, you'll lose your reply at the login page. I find that very annoying.

Also, when you minimize the IM thing, it doesn't go to tray like other IMs do. That means it's taking up valuable space.

And so far it's only techgeeks using it, which means it's a waste of time for bands and musicians or other artists. Maybe when it is opened up to the average user it will be able to compete with Myspace for bands.

Re: 2007/08/30/blastmymusic-cozybug-facebook-apps/

Cozybug is lame. I never made a penny from them, even though I uploaded all of my tunes and agreed to their terms.

I have made tons of money from other services, however - such as Reverb Nation.

Perhaps it has to do more with how Snocap was or wasn't marketed/distributed? Just having a deal with Myspace doesn't mean much. You still have to go out and schlep the brand around.

Re: 2008/08/12/role-of-public-relations/

Totally depends on the target audience. If your TA is a bunch of silicon-valley geeks (like you guys, techcrunch dudes, gawker media, etc), then you're probably right.

If your TA is normal every-day consumers, Wal-mart shoppers, worker-bees, then you still need a brick and mortar PR company.

BTW, Michael Arrington also posted an opinion on this article today. You guys must read each others' task lists, eh? I'm getting tired of reading multiple blogs about the same bleeding topic day after day. When are we going to see some original opinion?

Re: Blerp Gives Web Annotations Another Try

blerp doesn't work on Ning.com social sites
just so you know

Re: Anyone Know How To Beam Furniture?

Stay in a hotel. Keep the receipts and make the moving company pay for the hotel.

That's the best advice you'll get. I know hotels are $$ in NY, but you can keep the receipts and bill the movers for your stay.

Re: Returning My iPhone Today

Personally, I'm avoiding the iPhone although I must admit I am intrigued. There will always be "only $100 to upgrade" for new features, and all I really need - let's be honest here - is the phone. Sure it would be convenient to have google maps at my finger tips - especially when I'm on the road, but it's not critical. I've got a complete set of Rand McNally maps in the car that get me where I'm going every time. The last 2 times I used Google Maps up here in the hinterlands of New England, the map put me on a dirt road that turned to a track and dumped me in a dead-end farmer's field. The road continued about 3/4 of a mile later, but there was no connection. I had to back out 1 mile of muddy track, go 8 miles around via various other roads to get where I was going

Maybe for city folk the iPhone makes sense. But not up here in the woods.

Re: Your Turn To Get Loaded

Thanks. Good job. I enjoyed the first show. Can I offer you a tip from an old performer? Don't move around so much. You have a great smile. Use that more - and if you feel the urge to move your body, channel that urge into your smile. The more you move, the more distracting you are, and people stop focusing on your message, hoping you'll stop weaving around.

Just a thought.

Anyway, keep up the good work and I'll be watching!
