In general do young people think adults care about them ? Half the battle is getting to hear young peoples' voices, the other half is listening to what they have to say. And how many times do we put what we've learnt into practise? Is it because youth work is that complex? This programme will centre on youth participation in decision-making. The programme aims to overcome barriers to participation and aims to help young people across the Borough develop their skills and provide opportunities to have their voices heard more clearly.<br><br>Through the Resident Participation Unit, we aim to engage young people through educating them around housing and the structures and processes we aim to adopt, such as the Housing Board of Directors, service panels etc. The programme will aim to include activities centred on networking with peers, working with voluntary agencies and other partners whom work within the community. These activities aim to develop an information structure and also create links with our staff. We hope a create a clear understanding and an awareness of our core responsibilities that is hoped will be embraced by young people to enable opportunities for their views to be fed into our organisational structures.<br><br><br>The Young Director Programme - Aims<br><br>We aim to find at least 4 young people from each of the 3 high schools.<br>We aim to develop a Youth Forum to provide a voice for the young people.<br>We aim to build on the Youth Forum and link it to the Housing Board of Directors to allow young people to influence services.<br>We aim to offer free training and development.<br><br>Yes I like this last model ...
