This was an honest mistake and I (the guy that runs the channel) has since apologized to improve everywhere (who I sincerely love)

in A Flickr-powered screensaver? Incredible on Mathew's comments
You know there is a really good service called Photocastr that does exactly this, and you know, works. http://photocastr.quantumfoam.org/

mathewi Thanks for pointing that out, Ethan. I hadn't heard of that one.

dave Ethan, Photocastr basically does something that Flickr (seems to) already do. I could be missing something. Regardless, the feeds it produces would work fine with FlickrFan (I checked). So it's not a case where it does what my software does, it's very compatible with it.

in Who cares about conference Wifi anymore? on Scobleizer
Fair point Mr. Scoble. If I could get to Verizon's website.... I'd be doing that.

Speaking of: has anyone added up the cost of ubiquitous connectivity per month for a road warrior type? That includes TMobile hot spots, blackberry, mail hosting, cell service, etc?

Chrispy crap.

Let it be known: another Verizon client coming soon.

in Are bloggers authoritative sources at big companies? on Scobleizer
In my case, no. I never pretend to be. I'm speaking from both in and out of Warner Bros Records, but never on record as a "voice" from within the company. Its my job to be the technology go-to guy in our world of Burbank, but its also my passion to be involved in technology at all costs.

My answer (and I blogged this) is that I blog because I blog. I do it at work, at home, on the road, etc. The voice of my blog is the same voice that is in marketing meetings, technical meetings, e-mail in the company and elsewhere.

Sam: first paragraph: spot on. Second: You are buying into just as much hype thinking the Arctic Monkey's were a success ONLY because of viral marketing. They did have a record company, are seeking more distribution and had plenty of side marketing hype generated through traditional media outlets.

The Artic Monkeys success is just as much of a marketing success via traditional means as it is via viral means.

Like I told the class at UCSB: record companies still do something for bands. It's just a matter of us adapting to a market place that expects us to do things differently. It is also why I was hired 9 months ago :)
