Who'd have thought toasters could be so dangerous?

In all seriousness, I've got lots to say about PhonepayPlus and not much positive I'm afraid. Including, in the last few days, a "woman" I've been chatting to named Tammy who claims to be head over heels in love with me (after about two messages) but desperately in need of money wired to her so she can get back to the UK. :-D

Re: Creator of UKTrains site is MIR’s very own Ben Smith

And of course, Ben was inadvertently tweeting live on Sky News last night: http://twitpic.com/1axno

Re: MIR Show goes to Rome and finds locals using N73s

So many things to digest... There's my N73 rotting away in a draw when in Italy it'd be the creme-de-la-creme and how absolutely useless Nokia Maps is at... well anything! Why couldn't Nokia have bought up tomtom instead? I want a brand spanking new version of tomtom City Maps and I want it now!

As for next MIR city... hmm Kabul perhaps? There's quite a few interesting mobile stories there to uncover!

Re: Taking the Mobile Industry Review show to Kabul, Tehran and Pyongyang

I'd imagine Tehran would be very do-able logistics-wise and the authorities fairly welcoming. Pyongyang is open to Western tourists but from what I remember reading (from those that have gone) you have to put your name down on a waiting list and once there you have a minder at all times and, um, phones are taken off you! :-D

Re: MIR Show goes to Rome and finds locals using N73s

Could we not somehow bring Andy McNab into the mix? Cool.

Can't wait for the INQ guys to bring out a mid-tier handset or, if it doesn't defeat the whole purpose of what they're doing, a high end device.

Just wish 3 in the UK offered it on shorter contracts. 18 months is far too long. 12 months is only available at higher priced tariffs. No 6 or 9 month contracts at all (with or without paying for the handset).

Re: Never miss a show with Sky’s Mobile Remote Record service

You really need to jump through hoops to get it working, but once you do it's great!

Spent ages on the phone to various Sky folk, even had to have a TV package added! They credited back the difference. Why was an extra pack required? Well you can't have Remote Record with an odd number of packs!!

The 'record' signal is sent over the air - not via the Sky+'s telephone connection. That's why it's sent almost immediately. It's also why it works even if the box isn't connected to the phone line (or the line's engaged). The downside of this is there's no way of seeing if you have a programme clash or no space left on your planner.

Re: MIR gets on the wrong side of Coracle Media

When I saw the title of this I thought, 'Oh no, what have they done now?' :o) And *that* was it?!?

My sympathies go out to Ewan and the MIR crew, not receiving future releases from this PR will surely be a tragic blow. They really need to add some kind of mini-HDMI, mini-component or what-have-you as these things will always suck when all there is to feed them is a dodgy composite connection.

Re: Sony Ericsson Hikaru - first image leaked

Looks very nice, wouldn't mind getting my hands on one.
