in Thoughts on new media and ethics on Mathew's comments
Very interesting insight Matt - no wonder I follow you :)-

I think Frans Johansson's would agree that you sit within the intersections of new media and traditional media. One foot in either side.

[OT]
You may wonder why I bring up Frans Johansson Author of the medici effect here.. oh well I learnt from him to hover around "intersections" of interest which funnel insight into things and in return I kinda jumped started him into blogging again..
http://themedicieffect.typepad.com/stories/2005...

[EndOT]
back to the point :)- I think the ethics difference between the MSM and the new media folks is simple. if its an ethics issue a person is responsible or its a company. A Company is like a facade of many faces so it kinda can get asskwed terms of responsibility's and face value and one way to build is to have that partnership with the community and build trust.

btw..My question is "Can Ethics be taught" ?

in The Cult of Anonymous on odd time signatures
I agree wrt "a good thing in the eyes of most, but bad in the eyes of anonymous? " - this itself will tell how much humanity is matured . The beauty of Anon is that its loosely tied and widely organized. For something to be good to others ( as a majority) and bad to Anon - would be an interesting event to track. I really doubt that could happen, then it just becomes a local event and not truly a global event.. 14 countires / 57 protests- all with a single purpose is hard to do with zero $$$ investment...thats the key.. zero $$$ investment :)-

Anon is a new type of movement in the making.. today it is Scientology, tomorrow it maybe something more important -- who knows. !!

Karoli Hi /pd and thanks for the links.

I guess my objection is the same even if it is something more important. What if the 'something more important' is a good thing in the eyes of most, but bad in the eyes of anonymous? Should any group hide under anonymous guise and outside of the realm of accountability for their actions?

My bias is that anonymity is fine for self-protection, but when it switches to attack mode, it's a dangerous thing.

in “Networked thought” — truth or delusion? on Mathew's comments
"Web enables you to connect thoughts and ideas that you might not otherwise have had, and therefore is actually of more value rather than less."

Scot is correct- book reading is only a means to dilute the mind when there is no net access.

However, mans best friend is h/er books.. books cannot die, even though society changes, books will remain the foundation of learning- schools will still use books .. else it impossible to teach. Or maybe the world will change so much that humanity will forget how to write?

think about it ..a blank book is a blank book , unit the kid scribbles in it.. after that is becomes part of a time vault :)-

in India, an option for Global Entrepreneurs | Vijay Anand on Vijay Anand | The Startup Guy
Vijyay,

Riya tried this out.. the scale of economics is just not feasible yet !!

Holistically, I can see your reasoning and agree with the long term vision. Startups can mobilize in India..but having a core team in the west coast and then dev team in india. is just NOT working out. Secondly, you need to go back and review your post on incubation and mentorship. Startup's need to move that bold move to remove themselves from the string that tie them into a position of weakness. (incubation theory) However, that again will negate series funding and advisory committee's are not conducive to their funds being driven by passion and vision alone.. let alone in another country.

Global Hedge fund mobilization in India is what is needed...

in Using Microsoft Project is not Project Management | Aligning Technology, Strategy, People & Projects on Aligning Technology, Strategy, People and Projects
"small details/problems are usually building up and making a bottle neck. Once we realize this, it was to late. Can you share me some tips on where we should keep the details?"

I call this the lack of due diligences. That's in;

1) Capturing the unplanned tasks and ensuring that at closure one can use this as part of the lessons learnt.
2) I treat unplanned tasks as risk issues if there become "bottle necks"
3)track them as "Risk issues" under PWA.
4) Revisit them for lessons learnt
5) VSTS connectors permit a PM/IT dept to extract these risk issues across the whole folio for quarterly reviews.
6) I use that method to review "defect's" in the planning , analyize or dev process. that becomes one of the variables for folio matrix build for project efficiency.

Hope tis help !!

in Using Microsoft Project is not Project Management | Aligning Technology, Strategy, People & Projects on Aligning Technology, Strategy, People and Projects
yes, just using Projects does not make one a PM. What matters most is the people.

As for reporting in status etc and project matrix, there are many ways of doing it. keep it simple is the best way to go. less is more !!

I mean there can't be a double std , just because its a US based publication and the off shoring is done in India. What about reuter.uk having canadian writers for their UK operations ?

I mean is it ok to outsource to Canadians but not to Indians ??

in Huffington Post takes on the media on Mathew's comments
With Blogger VLogger. there is always the rogue effect. Remember Kevin Sites breaking the 301 dogs of war episode.. its become an embrassment to US?DOJ and in general America..

MSM are always propped by either the right wing or the left wing. blues or reds.. whichever way you take it. even Huffinngton hasto make opinion and take a stand. Which side they are on is irrelvant as long as that side is top side. The moment the scales tip, is then you will see the true shift in integrity.

Yes, why, thats because shifts in perception and alignment is a game in terms of being part of the generic MSM type of content creator.

As an indivdual your still toast.. think about it.. in your current positioning. if you write something a political that goes against the grain, you will take heat... likewise if heat is coming your way, then the tone changes in a subtle way to sustain surviving.. !!

Matt, yes I know .. unfortunalty my days within an STF are long gone and I have no leverage factor in this Geographic space. I wish i knew peeps who are open to these type of thought and can work a system. yeah ...if only local authorities had vision and strength, there is so much that can be done to negate a "Holly" scenario , with common technologies out there..

The Case you cite is , if I remember correctly , was with the Philly Sex crimes unit working on a perp who had fingerprints in MySpace.. Not sure, still unverified info..

hehehe.. "CSI" Forensics" meets "Dating Site" ..Say "Hello World" .

Heres the hypthesis-take Riyav1.0 , insert criminal pics, run it against images on dating sites etc etc and the authorities have a most sophistcated targetting tool !!

I remember I seed the thought on munjals blog sometime ago .. tweak and sell riyav1.0 as a targetting tool.. becomes another tool in the WoC (weapons of choice) againts criminals....!!
