To each their own. I watched the 1st session and was emotionally upset from the show. I thought wow that is some amazing mind warping psycho show!

Season 2 got rid of my nightmares. I was left with a bland taste in my mouth. The Cylon's went from being a mysterious impressive species to robots that couldn't handle human emotion.

I never really had an appreciation for just how much the writing makes or breaks a show. Here the juice of the writing dried up, and we were left with another series that makes me embarrassed to love sci fi (at least I continue to treasure sci fi books).

Hi Steve, just wanted to apologize for what I wrote. I was in a bit of a mood for unrelated reasons, and got carried away.

Others have pointed out that is an a very old version of the theme viewer, from before Automattic actively managed it, that is why it isn't in our code repository. Anyway, that is no excuse for what I wrote. You have my sincerest apology (though I wonder why there would be any other type.)

I would not say that Photobucket "[uses] Flock as its back-end". The Flock, Photobucket Edition is the full featured Flock with the photo features configured for Photobucket by default.

It is flattering for Flock to be compared to the two excellent browsers Maxthon and Firefox. Maxthon has been around for about 2 years, compared to Flock's one year, so I am not sure that Maxthon is "the other new browser".

Though I think it is a disappointing misquote that doesn't really suggest anything. Like Matt, Blake does not seem like the type that would sell control of a product, and like Matt wrote smart investors are not really looking for that.

Software with an update service allows the company to have a pretty good ball park idea of how many active users they have. Of course, this number doesn't look as good as downloads, so you won't be getting it anytime soon.

Not so good for the stock though. The negative reaction of Apple stock price is being attributed by some as a result of "this $200 less admission" that sales of the iPhone weren't hitting the targets.

This is a very geeky, US only solution.

What do you mean by faster? I canâ€™t help but wonder if it is a pseubo effect. DNS lookup is measured in the milliseconds for most internet configurations I have experienced. If a particular host has a lousy DNS configuration that is something else.

Use Firefox or Flock typing in the address bar, and the implicit Googleâ€™s â€œIâ€™m feeling luckyâ€ will get you good results often with less typing than OpenDNS's tyop correct. The phishing feature is novel but also coming in Firefox 2.0 .

Strange Scott, I did not see your comment previously.

I did give it a try. I did not find any difference, but I never found myself thinking "this DNS look up is slow". I am sure people's mileage will vary.

Today, it seems to be a US only solution.

I don't see it as competition to browsers at all, but I don't think it is currently a general or practical solution.

Though I find it intriguing, the technical details don't really add up to me either. It is not my experience that most DNS servers are slow.

Hi David,

It is great if you are positioned to have a global service including local languages. Where your service would be consistently faster than a "local provider" would lead me to complain to the provider. I am sorry, DNS is not magic, and never been a perceived issue for me, particularly not a bottle neck.

I have experienced plenty of outages, but I guess I am lucky that it has never been isolated to DNS,

Awesome news about another collaborative developer event!

Although Nima's announcement reads "all software technologies and platforms are welcome and are encouraged to participate" the current SiliconValley CodeCamp frontpage is very heavy on the Microsoft in terms of user groups and sponsors. Hopefully, that does not discourage people, and there is a full mix of participants.

Yeah, my personal preferences would be more Flickr style tagging. First showing you the person's results with an option for global.

I don't know how that would affect the Google Juice or if that is even a concern.

I wonder what it is costing Dell for technical (telephone) support of the Ubuntu models?

That's a bummer that Ubuntu isn't an option on the higher end models. Hopefully, that will come with time -- would be great for business/corporate penetration.

It is a good solution if you use UTF8, but not everyone is. WordPress core seems to need a more comprehensive solution.

Unfortunately that is probably a bug in Flock, because of the older Firefox 1.5 alpha code base. Can you explain this issue in more detail please (if you would email the details and steps that would be great). Then we can consider the usability, and consider really fixing it.

@Systems Engineer: the issue you present is a genuine bug, and is described in bug #541. Although the dialog does describe that the blog type has been successfully auto-detected, the user experience might be better if each blogging platform were listed.

Within the week, we will do another release on our path to a early adopter beta which includes:

* Improves performance a bit ;-)

Find working in the text area (form fields) is the single most important feature in Firefox 2 for me. It really is the little things.

My interest in what blogger integrity means influenced me in writing Who is TechAddress?. TechAddress is a WordPress.com hosted blog doing a lot of interviews with start up leaders while the blog author is mostly anonymous.

I am not surprised that the most profitable images on Getty are of celebrities, as that reflects many of the most interesting blog posts about copyright that I have read by independent photographers.

Great interview Maryam. Mary Jo and her passionate focus on Microsoft is an interesting phenomenon in itself.

Aside, the autoplay Cisco "reporting" (ad) at the end of each of the videos is annoying. I had a video running in background tab and tried to find which tab had the video playing -- the static image threw me off.

There is a similar project in South Africa called THE DIGITAL DOORWAY.

Both projects are shown in episode 05 of Go Open Source from 2004. All the episodes are available for download.
