in On Chris Fabry Live Concerning Ray Boltz “Coming Out” on ETC: Everyday Thoughts Collected
Randy, I don't know much about Mr. Boltz, but it seems to me that he has not been believing what he sings. if he had shame it was not from God and therefore he should have applied the scriptural advice in: Romans 10:11, 2 Timothy 1:12, Psalms 119:6 etc. "For the Scripture saith, whoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed." As a Christian even if he felt he was denying his true self he should have applied, Galatians 5:24, "And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts." God, as is His habit already has an answer for us even before we ask.. and it was not the one Ray Boltz chose, if he had believed these words from God " Do not change yourself to be like the people of this world, but be changed within by a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to decide what God wants for you; you will know what is good and pleasing to Him and what is perfect." Romans 12:2 and he might have saved himself from this promise from God: "God wants you to be holy and stay away from sexual sins. He wants each of you to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable. Also do not wrong or cheat a Christian in this way. The Lord will punish those who do those things..." I Thess. 4: 3-4,6

Mensley I think I can relate to why Mr. Boltz felt ashamed and etc. throughout his life. He doesn't need to necessarily not believe in Scriptural promises. Shame comes from secrets we feel forced to keep because they are unsafe to share. A struggle with same-sex attraction could certainly fall into that category for someone who runs in Conservative Christian circles--more so for someone in ministry--even more so for someone in very public ministry.

This, I believe, is part of a wake-up call to the Body of Christ. We need to be living in radical transparency with one another, so that these struggles do not fester over the years, growing stronger until they overcome us.

"Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." James 5:16

in 2008 Flu - An Homage on ETC: Everyday Thoughts Collected
I live in Texas, Susan.. and because, like Florida, we have nice weather much of the year we don't spend as much time cooped up indoors with strangers like other parts of the country might... it has spread here... but since I live in a more or less suburban/rural area there is not the going to work in a factory or huge office to deal with either.. I have my grandkids and a pregnant daughter in my house at the moment so I do not want to share this with them.. My son in law, bless his heart, got it first and his ear drum ruptured.. he had the head part so badly.. I am a 38 year rheumatoid arthritis sufferer so my immune system is way less than perfect.. I think that is why I am now on my fourth week of symptoms.. However today they seem much less potent than yesterday.. Thank God.

Randy, it is best that you do see your dr. I think I mentioned in my email last week that this flu can actually kill... my cousin's 18 year old perfectly healthy, athletic daughter caught it and died in 10 days.. I am not intending to scare you more.. God alone knows our time and hour.. but see the doctor.. the flu season is just taking hold in our part of the country and it is nothing to sneeze at.. (pun intended)... and wear a mask at work and in public.... whomever exposed you, may easily have exposed them too...no relapses for you.

I feel your pain... and have been feeling it since Feb 16.... and I have some words of hope for you Water,Water, Water, Benydryl to force sleep, MUCINEX, Sucking candy (lifesavers, lemonheads, worthers originals) to ease the pain caused by the demon ripping your throat out.. and robitussin cough syrup with guaifenesen(sp), hot spiced tea, oh yes... and a good lip balm to ease the poor nose that uses up four boxes of tissue. ... um but ick don't use what is left on your lips... ewww. You will live... but you might not be able to speak above a whisper for several weeks.. Now.. don't you feel better??? : )

I feel for you Randy, been there done that.. We allowed a local tv news show to come to our home and interview us on tape.. When they aired the show we discovered the hostess would read a question she had not asked us on the tape and then play our answer to a different question from the tape.. and they quoted several statements we made where we attributed certain things to Jesus only when they quoted us they substituted Exodus for Jesus... what can we say ...except."professing themselves to be wise, they become foolish"
