Amen, Brother. I met Craig N. in SF in 2007. A TOTALLY decent, humble, smart, upright guy. A man totally motivated by "Good". This whole story makes me weep....

Hey, small world... My dad discovered your blog this morning and sent me over the link. I read your book, "Conversations With My Agent" about a decade ago [It rocked, by the way].
Yeah, one of my best friends is a pretty well-known Hollywood director. From the stories he's told me, the fact that anyone manages to survive in Hollywood at all seems a minor miracle. Well done for making it happen on your end.
Good luck and Godspeed, and Happy Blogging!
Hugh

I agree, Fred. I call it "Social Search". For some things, it works far better than Google.

Hey Matthew,
Just saw this post, Rock on. It still AMAZES me, one month later, how much brou-ha-ha this wee scandal caused :)
Of course, when I say scandal, I do mean in the strictly "inside-baseball" sense of the word ;-)
Like your blog. Always good stuff going on here. Keep ut up :)

Thanks, Hugh. And just for the record, I love your stuff and I think
it's great that you are trying new things and focusing on what is best
for you and your art. I was just venting :-) Rock on.

in Era of blogger’s control is over on Scobleizer
Conversation happens wherever two people meet. That was true, pre-web. It's still true, post-web.
This kind of discussion reminds me of the late 1990's i.e. "I know! Let's create a website where people will come by in their tens of thousands and talk about how great our products are!"
It sounded foolish then; it sounds foolish now. So I vote more "Louis" than "Tony". Though I'm sure Tony is a great guy, as well. Rock on.

in my socks don't fit on hilker's tumblr comments, yeah!
Funny, I LOVED the first two Bourne movies. But the third movie, sadly, just BORROWED far too many motifs from the first two movies, and double-dosed on the least interesting aspects of them. Car chase scenes, cutting the chick's hair, "Look at what they make you give", the evil CIA boss with something to hide, Southern-style Kung Fu fight scenes, Jason limping etc etc.
A pity. Nothing would have pleased me more, as a third movie, as good as the first.

Gerard,
I tell you exactly how I feel. 95% of the time, my work gets proper attribution. The remaining 5% of the time, I generally don't find CARING worth the effort. I'm too busy, doing other things, far more interesting.
Seeing the worst in people caries an enormous price. As does seeing the best in people. We're adults. We make the choice, one way or the other. Thanks be to God.

Comic Strip Blogger,
1. The Blue Monster is not a symbol for Microsoft. To say it is, is missing the point somewhat.
2. I'm sorry you don't like the symbol, Regardless. But if you have a better idea, let's hear it. Even better, let's see you make it happen. Your countless fans are waiting.
3. Every time Robert mentions me you're first in line, saying something negative. Sour Grapes, if you ask me. And as Robert has told you countless times before, any fool can criticize. Any fool can have an opinion.

[Disclosure: Robert's a good friend of mine, so I generally don't have a lot of time for the Tom's of the world.]

Truden, if Scoble's "friends" object to what you call Scoble "pushing", they unsubscribe from Scoble with a simple click of a mouse.
i.e. Again, they can act like grownups.

If you don't like Facebook, do what grownups do: Either find something you like better, or build something better yourself.

I met Steve on my last visit to Redmond. Wonderful guy. We talked a lot more about music, Robert Fripp, love and sharing than we talked about Web 2.0.
The interesting story is not about the hammer and nails. The interesting story is about the houses they build. Menlo Park forgets that sometime.
[Steve, if you're reading this, Congrats on your newborn]
Hugs and Smiles to all....

I was with Dan Farber this morning when he got the exact same message on his Blackberry.
Funny, it wasn't a planned meeting, we just bumped into each other randomly in the bar of my hotel. He was passing down the street and saw me in the window, and came in. Small world.
This is something I've noticed; maybe there's a future blog post in it: Anything to do with Web 2.0, whether we're talking about something big [Google], medium [Twitter, Facebook] or tiny [gapingvoid, The Assimilated Negro blog] has an Achilles heel. I have yet to find an exception to the rule.

A good list there. I've become a huge fan of Rex Hmmock lately.

Of course, it's a miracle to survive in any business, really. The
longer I spend in Hollywood, the more it resembles real work.
Thanks for the nice tweet, by the way!
