As someone who has watched European football for years and generally thought MLS was an inferior product I have been very very impressed this season by what I have seen.

Sure it's not the Premier League but its not the Championship either. More Latin and free flowing, I'm converted. But what team should I pull for? We don't have a team in Florida so who is the best team to pull for?

I was against TFC's entry into MLS which is a designated FIFA sanctioned first division for the UNITED STATES, not NORTH AMERICA, and remain against expansion to Canada. USL has done well in Canada but I know from a very good source that USL was asked by the USSF to not replace the Lynx with another Canadian franchise when TFC went to MLS and the Lynx dropped out of USL. USL instead is expanding to Austin, Phoenix and Tampa. My source tells me Marcos has been told by the USSF to not replace Vancouver or Montreal either if they bump up to MLS. This could mean that the USSF is willing to allow those teams to enter MLS if expansion stop there. So basically the Ottawa application could be rejected by the USSF, and I believe they will not be able to join USL either.

The precedent of allowing TFC into MLS opened a can of worms that cannot be put back in place.

The quality of play may have been better in 1998 but the SSS really help from the perspective of going to the matches.

Attendance is up over the last ten years by about 2,000 per game. That could account for your decline in TV ratings.

Bottom line: Things need to get better for MLS no doubt. The TV ratings are poor, the mainstream media coverage almost non existent. But ESPN has committed through the 2014 season so we still have time.

Wrong. MLS Cup got a 0.3 last year on Telefutura as well so the rating did go down this year.

Back in the days when Telemundo which is in more homes carried MLS Cup and the Spanish language package, MLS Cup averaged about 400,000 spanish language viewers a year.

I don't think NC State up there is such a gimme either. They beat ECU who beat Va Tech. Any team that can beat anyone of quality is going to be tough for us. So is UCF.

We could lose out quite frankly. We're that bad. FSU not Carolina are very good. As the ACC season plays out that will be proven.

While this win was important it is critical to consider the fact that Miami has not beaten what we would call an upper division ACC team since Coker's last game against BC, a game being played on Thanksgiving Night in the memory of Brian Pata. If you take that sentimental occasion out of it, Miami has not beaten a top tier ACC opponent since beating Virginia Tech in Blacksburg in November 2005, right after Hurricane Wilma.

So this week's game will tell us once in for all if this team has improved. Wake is struggling right now. Riley Skinner isn't playing the way he has the last two years, but Wake is still formidable: the top team in the ACC collectively over the last three years, having lost only four league games including yesterday in a four year period. Everytime they have been counted down before they have come back. They have the best coach in America arguably in Jim Grobe. If this really was a turning point yesterday we'll have confirmation this weekend. Otherwise it was just a tease.

Seems as though Ryan Hill made a smooth transition to safety. He's easily the best tackler in the secondary (not saying much, but still), and an ace on special teams. Wasn't he a corner in high school?

So Nix is on the sidelines and I just don't get it how he does not put in James on that 4th and one. Cooper is not a short yardage back. I know James is still not 100% but we should be able to count on him for 1 yard. I honestly believe that Nix has no clue how to utilize our player personnel. Gtech was a perfect example. He and Gailey never used Calvin Johnson effectively. The guy was the best talent that school ever had and they under utilized him.

We could easily be 7-1 or easily be 2-6. this teams identity changes from game to game and no one seems to be consistent yet. Playing with freshmen was always going to be a roller coaster but this has been some ride.

Kartik do not worry about the negativity. My take is simple.The best way to improve this offense is to give the players some consistancy in the coaching staff. If they were to fire Nix, guess what? Now you have to learn an entirely new system and your freshmen QBs are essentially freshmen all over again, not to mention that they signed on with Miami in expectation of working with Nix. So if you are a afraid of having guys transfer, go back and re-read what Marve was saying during his recruitment to Miami concerning Nix and you should be able to put 2 and 2 together pretty easily. No Nix = No Marve. The offense just needs time, mainly because the players running it need time. I don't think they should give any serious consideration to any changes to this staff for at least another 2 years, barring any unforeseen catastrophies. This offense has had freshmen across the board at the skill positions outside of the RBs. Not to mention they're among the higher scoring offenses in the ACC. I believe they're somewhere in the range of 28 PPG. Too many fans are just unrealistic and foolishly impatient when it comes to coahes. They seem to think like Al Davis does, and believe that they could plug just about anyone into the position and see immediate results. They have no concept of consistancy and no patience. Instead they expect that a team full of freshmen and largely incompetent upperclassmen ought to just steam roll through the ACC and easily put up 35 PPG. The earliest you can expect to see Nix running his offense the way he has always intended to run it would be over the next 2 years, when he's actually got a group of guys he recruited in here to run it. The lack of patience and football IQ in the Cane Nation is beyond scary.

The idiot Eddie Rios got himself suspended indefinitely according to WQAM also. We could have used him tonight. The bottom line is this: our other guards Dews and Hurdle had to play so many minutes that they were dead tired at games end.

We have to come out Saturday on fire. Rios is out for sure. Jack can be suspended by the ACC. Hopefully he won't be.

Meeks and Patterson are fantastic and it will be very difficult to stop them. Very difficult. We need better defense than today. Other than McGowan no one played well defensively for Miami.
