I haven't used Disqs however am using Intensedebate and I'm loving the concept of threaded comments. This is not only making this look neat, it also shows that who is talking to whom.

indeed this is cool! I liked it all the way. However, I still wonder that how many people will actually check the site through mobile browser ? Generally people who'll have phones with bigger screens will only dare to do that and those phones are getting smart enough to render the whole site normally and then you get those zoom in/out facilities too :)

Thanks for remembering me and I'm sorry that I didn't update anyone about ReviewSaurus. It's a very long story but at one point of time I just got over with ReviewSaurus and thought of selling it too (at one point of time) but now I think that I may come up with occasional post on it.

Well, I agree to you as far as most of your points are concerned. What you shared was really your perspective and what I tried to mention was that why posting frequency actually matters. As I said, that it really depends on your purpose of blogging.

@ Vyoma : That's what I was trying to explain in the whole post. Regularity matters although, it may not matter for few niches but it does matter once your blog starts to gain the popularity. Rather, it's the regularity of good content which can help you in making the blog popular :).

That's one good strategy, post less but post in a regular schedule as you do in your case.

@moserw : Indeed anyone would have expected more updates but I believe that it's good enough when it comes to update from 2.5 to 2.6. I believe that in future releases all the updates will be some what related to security or extending WordPress as a mature CMS like Drupal or Joomla

We will have the ability to include adsense through the options panel and various other useful stuff which you won't find normally in the themes. We are already working on the next premium theme however, they will be paid, we are also working on free themes so stay tuned :)

@ Aravind : You naughty boy! Focus on your studies instead of blogging. :) Well, you should make a weekly plan. Try to sit down this weekend and write as many as posts you can - 10, 20 and then select the option of post publish and publish 1 post each day, that'll help you stay on top of it and then you can always stay in schedule even by just blogging only on weekends.

@ Ashfame : What's happened to all you guys! Study hard , don't blog between classes :) Good to see that you are so dedicated towards blogging, however, I'll suggest you to have 1 blog for 1 topic, so if you have lot of ideas in different sections then create a new blog each for it..

@ Arvind : Thanks for stopping by and sharing your insight with us. Well Google's idea is to ensure that they can display more and more adsense on the internet, no matter it's with their own content or some body else's.

@ Darren : Well, I completely agree to what you have said that it may effect the publishers when it comes to search engine traffic, however as you and john have always taught that one just doesn't need to depend on search engine to ensure that traffic flows in. Also, in my personal experience I've seen that if you ensure that you have decent on page optimization and are posting decent posts then you are good to go in search engine and you can rank at the top.

Instead of just giving up for certain keywords, we can always use better search engine optimization techniques to come up in search results. Although, I will certainly agree that it will take up some decent amount of publisher's time.

@ Praval : I certainly appreciate Darren's analysis, however I'm just spreading what I learned from Darren himself and that is never give up and just post quality posts and you'll definitely be a winner :) And as far as Search engine ranking are concerned, I've already mentioned in the reply to Darren's comment that it's really isn't that tough (may be I can say that because I know some of the tricks applied by SEOs)

@ Aravind : May be that's what I really don't want to accept. Google has built a monopoly and I don't want to accept that and I guess even they don't accept it and that's why they try to constantly improve their search engine. Well, I would also like to point out one thing and that is, it's still not certain that if Google Knol will be a hit or will it be a miss. Google Q&A; wasn't a hit at any point of time and Yahoo Answers clearly ruled that space.

WikiPedia has been around for years and people are kind of used to it and apart from that there is a huge community which supports wikipedia and I'm sure everyone will agree to the fact that it's really not easy to break communities, so if we look on that aspect, Google Knol may not even take off that well.

@ Vinamra : Agreed! I can't be as sure as you are but I certainly think that Google Knol may have tough time in becoming as successful as Wikipedia.

@ Sumesh : I guess you are one of those who doesn't mind reading the ads. Even I don't have a problem with ads as I'm now ad blind. Although, I'm pretty much sure that many people won't really love the idea of seeing the ads. As a publisher one would always want to get an opportunity to earn more. Although, I agree with you that ad-free web content will remain utopian

@ Craig : Thanks for subscribing to my blog. Well, it really depends on how you see things, lemme give you two examples -
1. You have already subscribed and took your time to visit my blog and then leave a comment on it. - This is true in your case. So, it's good as it shows the community effect.

2. You may have subscribed the blog but don't leave comments and read it through feed reader. Well, there are various other ways through which a person can leverage the subscribers, even though they just read the blog through feeds and how to do that will be my next blog post :) And I have to say that your blog looks pretty cute too.

@ Aravind : Well, as I mentioned in the reply to sumesh that I'm sure most of the publishers won't mind it however, many readers may get irritated because of it. Well, the line "Get The Ad Free content delivered to you Free" doesn't sound good as a publisher or writer. However, you show the ads in web pages anyway :)

@Amit - Well, I agree that lot of things are possible with custom domains or ftp publishing however, I still believe that if you have agreed (I believe too) that WP is better than blogger than it has to be better than that ;)

@Danny - Well, yeah for business owners wordpress.com or blogger are good as they don't have to worry about setting things up and all that. However, don't you think that setting up WordPress is one of the simplest things you have to do and for those it may be a daunting task, there are lot of guides available on the internet.

@Hostgator review - Well, normally the ideal way should be that you should write some few free guest posts for them to ensure that they like your writing style. This way they'll have confidence on you and will be able to assess if their readers are liking your contest. Once they will find your posts valuable, I'm sure they'll be ready to pay you for the same content which you gave for free at first.

Well, I agree with all the points you have made. However the reason why Kyle and me made this post was that we wanted Automattic team to take care of the issues raised by you. For e.g. Popularity contest takes too much server load - it's probably because it is poorly coded. Same is the case with Google XML sitemaps too - even that is indeed poorly coded and wastes lots of server resources.

Apart from that these options can be just in core feature with the ability of turning them on and off, for e.g. permalinks can't be supported by all the web hosts, however, it's still present as the core feature.

Well, the script is actually resource hungry. Try to understand it like this.. .what is your computer's usage when you launch Adobe Photoshop? So every time you make a post, arne's plugin acts as photoshop (in terms of resource usage). Now there are many blogs on webservers and if each of them is running this script, then what will happen to the webserver??

I agree that thoughtful consideration should be given while making the blog posts. But the question is that why exactly this kind of movement or anything of this sort is required? People who are interested in making money will push their websites to whole new level as we all know that more content will surely help in making more money. At least, adsense farms have already proven that and those who are interested in writing good content surely put good enough efforts to bring out quality content.

Mashable is definitely an exception!

Yeah, keeping an eye on the branding surely helps in lot of ways. One also gets the idea about their authority. I'll be soon coming up with a post on how a company saved its reputation with the help of twitter and I'm sure that it can be a good case study for others too.

well that has to do with the local setup of the computer. I guess if you'll give the IP address of your computer to the other network members then they will be able to see the wordpress in that local network. It will happen because your computer now acts as a server. Try that once and see if it works.

LoL! in that case you really have no clue about twitter grader or hubspot. Twitter grader is big enough in itself and has a standard algo, so I think it doesn't hurt anyone in accepting their rankings until twitter comes out with some thing on their own.

Hey David, Thanks for dropping by. I understand the part that lot of contributors have objection with ads, however that\\'s where the management\\'s role comes in. I believe that if the message is made clear to all the contributors with proper marketing and PR channels then contributors will understand that its not about making money from WIkipedia however, the money will be used just to help various not-for-profit organizations with funds and thus it will only help the whole world and I don\\'t think any one will mind that and even if some contributors mind that, I think they should be left behind for greater good. It may sound rude at first, however I\\'m sure that world will understand or accept it once they\\'ll see the good happening around.
What do you think?

This plugin gives lot of options and I find it good enough that I\\'ve really not tried other video plugins, although I will surely check easytube.

Hmm.. There are various other phones that can do the work that iphone can however there are few things that will always keep it better than those phones and one of them is that they are constantly trying to improve its interface, hardware and that they are not coming up with different models and its one of the fastest growing platform in mobile phones, so I'm sure that other phones manufacturers will have tough time ahead.

Apart from that, it wasn't really an iPhone good or bad debate, if someone is fine with other phone doing the task that iPhone can do, then I don't mind that. The idea was that notebook can be replaced with these new smartphones and things will only favor smartphones in future.

Apart from that, don't you think that its been now 6 yrs and that Wikipedia has grown as much larger community and that I think there will be no harm in trying to ask the community through polls and through various blogs to see that how they'll react, just a proposal. I agree that when money is involved this tend to get messy. However, the management can keep it this way that the money that is generated will be used to pay hosting bills, office expenses and similar stuff or basically keeping the money that they decide to raise through donations and all extra that gets generated can be donated to the needy NGOs.

I doubt that advertisers will mind anything as Google adsense is contextual, so they'll get relevant traffic.. that they'll not mind.

I agree that most of the people face the same problem and that's why around 10 freelancers near my area have decided to get together and take up an office. This will ensure we'll be able to work in schedule and will be way more disciplined as before.

I was talking about inorbit's free wi-fi connection. It worked fine for few days, however after that it started running really slow. May be some jack-ass would have forgotten to close his torrent software :P

Oh! you are using WordPress.com account. Well, I doubt you'll be able to install Google Analytics on it, however you can use WPStats to see the visitor information for your blog. Apart from that, the only way of doing the same will be to take the credits to edit the theme files, other than that, I'll just research a little bit and may come up with the solution. There is no guarantee though.

Yeah! I use Mac :) It is one wonderful piece of machine that one will go crazy about. I haven't faced even a single problem since last 1 yr. and I haven't met anyone yet. The only problem that I face with it is the iSight (inbuilt webcam) that doesn't work some times other than that, it is just too good and worth every penny.

Hmm, well as far as Ijigg is concerned..I think it is a nice concept (although some what related to digg) but it can certainly pay off well! Digg only focused on text based or videos and forgot audio part and that's what ijigg has stolen from them :)

Podcast can be marketed through them and hosting them at ijigg is also a good option, finally odeo gets a good looking competitor

well, i can only say that digg is at fall and I'm sure that the alexa traffic gives us some indication. Not only that, digg is actually getting very bad responce these days. The only reason for that is some members and may be to some extent digg's policies.

@ knight17 : Feedburner is a service which helps in you in tracking your feed count and various other things. But over here I was discussing the Feed aggregators which can subscribe to feedburner or any other feed.

@ Everyday Weekender : Try other services apart from the Firefox's inbuilt feature. Google reader is my choice and I'm sure you'll love it too.

@ Ajay : As I said in the post itself that Feeddemon actually rules the list of these kind of softwares...You are using one real good software :)

@ Srikanth LOGIC : You are my buddy!!!!! It is actually one cool piece of service and the best according to me :)

Well, Even I agree that there are many people who are making Orkut a bad place. As Thilak said, that too many community requests, people tampering with images of girls and lots of stupid activities.
However, we need to look at the positive sides of it as well.

However, as you said that you wanted a calendar...well, i believe that they've got sunbird (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/sunbird/) for that and you can always look at seamonkey (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/) as well.
