in We Need a Christian Ethic of Blogging on (Ir)religiosity
Most of this comes down to the discernment of the writer and the commenter. I agree it is way too easy for people to slander others online and somehow we always need to keep in mind of how our words, with no voice to them, could come across.

Blake Huggins I agree. The problem is when you're by yourself (which is when blogging and commenting happens) and sometimes in the heat of the moment it is easy to bypass that discernment.

I use Tweetdeck and love it. If Twitter was smart they would buy something like Tweetdeck. The ability to create groups, use twitpic, and shorten urls, along with all the other Twitter tools makes Tweetdeck just too good not to use.

I don't think McCain would disagree with Obama's statement, since he did support the bailout. In today's age, most small businesses are started on loans.

in Loops - Hosanna by Paul Baloche on FredMcKinnon.Com
I wonder if the voice commands will throw any of the vocalists or musicians off. We used some loops this past weekend. The hardest part of to make sure that each musician (not just the drummer) sticks with the tempo. They have to have it up loud in their ears for sure.

Great choice.

in Distracting Worship? on FredMcKinnon.Com
Well I genuinely think that we can only choose to let things distract us. True worship is focused on God.

But I will admit that people dancing distracts me, especially on slower songs.

While I love the music this movement has created I don't like the montra. I 100% believe it is unBiblical and unGodly to worship a worship leader. It is a sad thing to see people care more about Chris Tomlin's new cd than they care about following Jesus. Thanks for the challenge Fred.

I do believe Obama talked specifically about change happening through individuals, through people, not just government. I see your point though Fred.

Billy and Alex have great stuff. I guess I just don't understand the desire to have more readers. I'd rather just do my blog the way I think is God honoring and maybe people will read it. But...at the same time I do understand the desire for more readers.

I guess I just contradicted myself :)

in What Makes a Great Worship Song? on FredMcKinnon.Com
1. Singability
2. Forces an attitude of worship
3. It makes you want to sing it.

These have to be 3 easy things when writing a song. Ha, I know writing a "great" worship song is probably harder than writing a pop hit.

Particular environment...I think for me it is outside at night under the stars. This could be with a band during a church service or it could just be me all by myself no instruments or anything. Being in creation brings me right into a place of worship, nothing needs to be said or done to bring me into His presence.

in Recap, I Thought We Were *SUPPOSED* To Sing on FredMcKinnon.Com
I think your thought on "revelation must come before participation" is right on. For sure. And participation without revelation is fake. That being said, I would go back to your original list to see how we (as worship leaders led by the Holy Spirit) can foster an environment that reeks of revelation. How can we make the main thing the main thing and make that evident to the average Joe in the congregation? I think that is the next step here.
