in Glympse vs. Google Latitude in location sharing battle on Scobleizer
I can't see this being a successful standalone service ... seems more like a feature that could be implemented in existing LBS systems ...

in Do You Carry Extra Batteries? on The Nokia Blog
I just carry multiple devices ... even the E71 can't make it a full day if you go out in the evening and use it heavily.

in The “netbook king” smacks down Sony on Scobleizer
I'm running Windows 7, XP and OSX on the NC10 and it's really quite a solid unit. The battery and keyboard are amazing - highly recommended if you are looking for one!

in 3 Settings You Should Know on Nokia N85, N96 and Other FP2 Devices on The Nokia Blog
Try this ...

*#0000# / press the left soft key and check for updates

You can see if there's a new version and install it from the standby screen which is quite handy.

in Nokia E71 on the horizon on Paul Jacobson
the camera thing seems like it could be fixed in firmware. The E66 has auto-focus ... press the shutter down and it snaps into focus. When the N73 was released it was fine, but as I moved through the N80 and N95 it was clear how much faster devices have become. The ESeries devices are VERY optimized around messaging compared to media and imaging so if that's what you are looking to do, you'll really love it. I've been very happy the past few months with this device

I think you'll be very happy. The main flaws are the lack or a 3.5mm headphone jack and the non-autofocus (press T) camera. I guess we can't have everything just yet.

in Featured App: Psiloc Connect For Auto-switching WiFi and Phone Network on The Nokia Blog
The one thing this app does not do in my experience is switch back ... it's one way to Wifi which is fine in most situation, but it's not smart enough (or was not the last time I tried) to switch back to 3G / Edge when you left a location.

in Free AT&T WiFi on your S60? on Symbian in Motion
It'd be nice if you could just enter your iPhone number and get access ... since I use my iPhone SIM in my N95.

in Chippy’s UMPC miniblog.: Portable 15-hour car/desktop PC on Rodfather Mobile
I just got the stowaway sierra fullsize keyboard which is awesome with the Nokia N810. I'm replacing the smaller one I used which was just not a very good keyboard unfortunately - at least compared to this. In the car I've got a dashboard mount from Proclip ...

Any way we can get the upload to respect the naming of the video for both seesmic and twitter integration?

This is great - thanks! I look forward to a native client as well...

in RussellBeattie.com - Mowser: Stop letting Google transcode your content! on Russell Beattie's Blog Forum
YES YES YES!

So how the hell can I get Google Reader to NOT use their mobilizer ... which I totally agree sucks. Seems impossible for now. I would probably not mind going through a mobile version if it actually worked. Currently I zoom to the bottom and view the html version instead on my N95... or Nokia Tablet.

I call it lifestreaming and think you've missed a competitor of great comparison in Jaiku. Though the added advantage of Jaiku is mobile. I've got feeds from all my digital life's sources going straight to Jaiku as the happen and see those shared by my contacts. Any item can be commented on and then there's a thread for discussion. While contacts can choose not to see all of you stuff (or filter just those they want) they see all your comments which enables you to track a lot of conversation - yet in a highly organized way.

fredwilson if you look at this chart, pownce and jaiku seem to be losing steam

Any app does not mean on-deck. It could be just like it is on my Nokia devices... I install whatever I want without carrier involvement. I use what data I need and don't buy subsidized phones. I agree it's good but it will be interesting to see how or if you can unlock and de-VZ a device so it's clean as though it came from the manufacturer which would truly make it open. We can easily live outside the garden ...

Douglas Karr I agree Jonathan - but it was so out of character for one of their emails that it actually caught my attention. I'm not sure that was deliberately part of the strategy - but it worked!

in Big Media- Learn About Participation on Chris Brogan
When I posted this on my blog, people started flocking in and asking where that was and how they could work for such a cool company...

It was done by people from Connected Ventures, who run Vimeo, CollegeHumor, Busted Tees, and Defunker.

I guess they live the brand which is just killer.

I could not agree more. My 3yr old's sole understanding of TV is that it's on-demand. She's only experienced DVR and mobile video... She recently asked my wife what DVDs she watched as a kid... ;)

I'll have to check Raw Digital out!
