I've got a number of rows like that in my pattern...a real pain in the butt! You might be doing the exact same yo, dec combinations, but there are different numbers of stitches between them! Really requires paying attention!
Hang in there, I've found that once I've completed the first repeat, things seem to go along a bit smoother. Hope it's the same for you.

It's kind of what I was thinking/expecting. Guess I gotta stop knitting & do some blocking, blech! This has definitely morfed into a thinking person's project...but if it turns out as I'm hoping (to fit ME!!), I will be so pleased! I had no idea how much WORK this would be and how much concentration it would require...guess that's why so many more people work on flat pieces like shawls & scarves...this is pretty challenging...

I've made a bunch of lace baby hats...there's a lovely Gull Stitch Lace top-down baby sweater in Elizabeth Zimmermann's Almanac (February)...how 'bout booties?

Hang in there! If you choose something different, try something that has a simple, short repeat so you don't have to read charts. It's still "real" lace knitting and can look stunningly simple!

You could try carefully moving some of the excess yarn across its row before you block, so that it's distributed over more of the stitches.

Yes, but the wonderful part is you can try them on as you go & make them as long as you like! And if you do two at a time, you can use up ALL your yarn! Plus, no toe bunching with bind off.

Gosh, you're brave...and in a dark yarn, too! You go, girl! It's already quite stunning. I've gotten myself a few of his patterns as I, too, aspire to knit one or two of his lovely works, but I haven't yet had the courage to cast on as I have no idea how I'm going to deal with the German it's written it... best of luck to you, it's looking like you're going along swimmingly!

Love that Spring Forward pattern! Very attractive in that yarn too. I find some variegated yarns just don't work with lace patterns, (I mean why do all that work if the yarn upstages the lace pattern, right?) but that one looks very nice.
The scarf/stole pattern is quite nice too.

This is SO true! I find that happens with me too...but sometimes it leads me in quite different (distracting) directions & I find it hard to get back to what I was originally working on!
Take, for instance, the 2 skinny scarves & the cape I just whipped out because I was looking through BW for ideas to put in my mananita...

I *had* to order the book after seeing several versions of this ...I'm hoping all the other patterns are just as exquisite...

The book is only (as far as I know) available from Schoolhouse Press...it's in Icelandic? with an accompanying translation, hence the somewhat prohibitive price...
