in The Fall of Man Part One: Introduction on Word and Verse
While Eve persuaded Adam to eat of the fruit, I think there is another factor...I think that when he saw Eve eat the fruit, and saw that she did not die, that perhaps at that point he doubted God or concluded that the threat of death was a lie. He trusted himself and his own wisdom instead of God.
Very good study - looking forward to reading more :)

in Jeff Noblit: God Helps Those Who CANNOT Help Themselves on Word and Verse
I've having trouble finding the words to express how I feel about this video....I am just astounded at the fact that God loves us even though we are so vile. This was a wonderful message. I rejoice in the fact that God is who He is yet I am humbled and repulsed by who I am.
When he gave that example of the guy who raped that little girl, I thought to myself 'now that's an evil person', but then he said that we were no better and he's right. I think we tend to view people as evil by the degree of sin they've committed, all the while not realizing that we are no better - that our sins are just as vile and just as deserving of God's wrath as the rapist.
Watching this video was very humbling - thank you for putting it up. Got lots to think about now.

in major doctrines: inspiration of scripture on BibleDude.net
When you spoke of the Scriptures being inspired fully by God and by man, I was reminded of these verses...
1 Corin 13:9,10 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 10But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
(this is my understanding of it - I am not a scholar, just a nobody)
Some think that our knowing "in part" and prophesying "in part" leaves room for human error and that is not so. Others think that it's 100% Spirit inspired but done in their "own styles" and again, I don't think is so.
The standard is that 100% of prophesy must be correct, but in our fallen nature, we cannot fully understand and fully know these things until Christ comes - then we will know everything in full. So yes, the scriptures are written by man while being inspired by the Spirit. Much like the connection you made with Jesus being fully God and fully man.
This next part is just my opinion. Please don't be upset by it, it's just my personal taste/observation of your video as a whole...
As a whole I liked it. It was very nice until the very end when you had that screaming, hard rock/rapping song playing. To me, it takes away from your credibility. You have a very serious presence about you. To look at you and hear you speak, one would think that you are a wise man of many years. You seem level-headed,mature, and a natural leader. But then you put that screaming rapping music on and the picture I had of you is dashed into a million bits. In an instant, your credibility is gone. Suddenly, I picture you stage-diving in the middle of a mosh pit with people half your age. You seem to send mixed signals. Who are you trying to attract? The lay person and/or serious Bible student or the Christian who thinks Jesus is his homey and "kewl?"
Again, please keep in mind that this is only my opinion. For all I know, that's exactly what you were going for. I hope you accept this in the spirit in which it was meant. :)
God bless

I don't think I've ever seen so many responses on a blog that were filled with such hatred for her raising her child as a Christian. I stopped reading at about #50. (now there are 293 posts most of them filled with Satanic hatred) I feel for this woman and will be praying for her.

in The One-World Religion Seeks Your Input on Word and Verse
The idea of the 'golden rule' is a good one. We should always treat others according to how we would like to be treated. The problem is that they view religion as the problem.
They are trying to unite by that which divides. They treat religious issues like any other corporate problem..identify the source, make some changes and arrive at a compromise that will benefit all. This isn't something you strategize over at the morning meeting. These are spiritual in nature and should not be managed by a self-appointed committee of globalists.
Try as they might, we will never have a 'utopian society' or world peace until the wicked are removed from the earth and Christ is reigning.

in Just Look How Far We’ve Come! on Word and Verse
What used to be called "sin"
is now a "moral failure" (if that)
Following Christ as dictated in the Bible is now...
considered "radical"
What was 'exposing false teachers'
is now being judgmental.
What was correcting someone in love
is now an act of hate.
What was believing in the exclusivity of Christ
is now being 'narrow minded' and 'arrogant'
Exercising Christ's love (agape) to everyone
has now become "accept all manner of sin"
Everything is twisted and backwards. This verse comes to mind...
Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.

in Cue the Handwringing… on Word and Verse
He is absolutely right!!! We don't need to get permission (and fight for our rights) because it is our DUTY to serve God no matter what our laws state!
I mentioned this before elsewhere on another forum and the Christians there said I was in league with the evil world system because I refused to fight against it. I was called a 'coward.' One who does not stand for Christ. One who is ashamed of Christ, and the list goes on. They claim they understood that this world is not our own (but rather in Heaven) yet they continue to try to shape the laws around Christian principles. Only after reading that article, I saw that he had a motive for this that I had never thought of which is that if the Christians do succeed and change the laws in their favor, then there will be no tough decisions to make, no standing up for Christ, no bucking the system, and possibly no martyrs. (when fully played out to its end) That never occurred to me! It could be an act of self-preservation i.e. an act of wickedness. (the author didn't say that, I did)
I like how that Gadfly thinks! Thanks for putting this up Isaiah. ;;)

If anyone walked into a church like that, would you hang around and try to make them understand that what they're doing is unbiblical? Do you think they are of sound mind and could understand you? (I have the Ray Comfort post in mind) They're either on an emotional high, oppressed by demons, or possessed by demons. Either way, this is what I was talking about...being in a place where the Holy Spirit is absent. I would run away.
Casey,
I was thinking the EXACT same thing!!!!! It sounds like they are being tormented by "fire" in hell.

in Update From Ray Comfort on Word and Verse
I don't fault Ray for preaching there. Let him preach where he is lead.
BUT....I personally would not go to a gathering where the Holy Spirit was absent because if they are not being lead by the Holy Spirit, then they are being lead by their master, Satan. It's no different than attending a rock concert or a psychic fair. I'm not going to step into Satan's playground where he rules, and has control over the crowd (speaking of strange manifestations) and give Satan an opportunity to hurt me either directly or using his servants. (others attending) But that's just me. /:)

I appreciate your feedback! And thank you for being honest! I can tell you that the music is just my style. That's who I am. It is a great song by TobyMac who has had a HUGE impact on the Christian music industry. He is someone who has not compromised, and even when the music industry told him (as the leader of DC Talk) to lay off on the Christian message in order to go more mainstream, his response was the song (and album) Jesus Freak which set the standard for Christian Rock and Rap over a decade ago. I understand that it may not be everyone's style, but it is my style and he is one of the artists that I've identified most with since becoming a Christian.
My audience for this is mostly people like me. I am not about presenting a certain "image" in order to impress the mainstream. My audience is people like me who want to hear from people who are real and have a "funky" side to them.
I'm not watering down the message, and staying true to who I am. I'm not about impressing people...
I REALLY appreciate your thoughts on this though... You rock!
