It is stupid... Twitter needs to implement an Open ID system!

in From Tesla Motors to the “Patriot Hack” - Martin Eberhard on Protecting Your Privacy Online on The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
This is a very interesting idea brought forth from Martin.

I am actually really interested in designing privacy tools like this and have been involved in a couple already. I would be interested in starting an open source project, but in case someone beats me to it I want to expand on his idea.

What if the Haystack simply becomes an internal spider. It scours your history of all your websites and follows internal links on those domains. It would mess up analytical software (not really my goal) but it would provide an extra layer of security and protect your privacy better. For example NetVibes would no longer know exactly what I am reading, or which websites I am actually visiting.

Great job bringing this forward Tim - I enjoyed the video about FISA a while ago. Bummer it still passed.

Ahem... Copy-cat

I caved and bought the Social keyword for the Social Millionaire. Consider it a tip for your review :)

P.S. - Are you making any money from this, isn't PayPal raping all your profits with their fees?

@SOB: I have been thinking about the whole idea of Facebook and MySpace blocking my account. (more Facebook then MySpace). My conclusion: do you realize how sweet that would be

Not sure if you heard about fellow blogger Robert Scoble being blocked by Facebook but that sure did turn into some wild free press for him. The amount of press I could generate from that would be unimaginable. :D

@Jim: I see a striking similarity between your blog and John Cow

@SOB: Yes - the website does depend on the success of how I promote the profiles. I have several ways to do this, I just wanted to test out with a small community to make sure everything is working first before I do any big promotion.

@Matt: You got them :)

I really do not want to defend my idea - I want to help you understand why this could be the next big thing. Since this is a money making blog I want to help you guys realize about some key social marketing ideas that will increase your business and is the foundation of The Social Millionaire.

There are hundreds of millions of people constantly using social networks like MySpace and Facebook. All I have to do is perform an action on these social networks and now all my friends know about it. This is called Social Engagement. If I write a new blog post, share a link or even upload any pictures, my friends will see it and check it out. This will create an amazing return rate amongst my friends and will even generate new friends. Think about it in the same way you find out about John Cow’s most recent postings through his RSS or MyBlogLog community.

You are probably asking yourself, how many of my visitors will actually become friends. I have a feeling a lot of the younger crowd will add me as a friend because they want to feel like they have been apart of something. But how big could that possibly be? Check out this Web-celebrities MySpace page:
http://www.myspace.com/gaygod/ - 315,123 friends

The Million Dollar Homepage and Million Dollar Wiki were not engaging enough. They provided little to no value to stay in touch with the website. The reason the Million Dollar Homepage had traction was he was able to hit the media like crazy. Luckily I have experience with the media (couple newspapers, radio shows, and one magazine) but it is too early to call them in.

@Jason: Profit from this review is only way metric to gage the success of the review by. In just the past 12 hours I have had people emailing me, commenting on my blog, adding me to their friends list on Facebook. That to me is already seeing a good ROI. And - because of John Cow’s sheer brilliance I now have some future ideas for new reviews.

@Jorge: Yes – "Watch Lost Online" is one of JC's keywords. Can anyone find the second one? (think of one of the latest posts)
