The new site looks great. Keep teaching us. I gotta say that I finally did most of the things that I learned about at your BWB workshop session. August was my web 2.0 learning and application month. Now you all got me thinking about purchasing a smart phone and one of those gadgets that allows me to access the Internet when wifi isn't available. They are all going to be planned business purchases in 2009. Thanks for all of the great information. Your blogs make me comfortable. I am a techie geek who gets scared to try new things at times, but reading your blogs and critiques about tools make my web 2.0 experiences good ones.

Great post. I think Twitter is a great Web 2.0 tool to build connections, community, and brand awareness with an audience. I started using Twitter as an author after I got back home from Blogging While Brown in July. Angela and Markus' presentation convinced me to start using so many of the Web 2.0 tools out here to enhance my online presence as an author, artist, yoga teacher, and life entreprneur. I am totally digging all of the great information on Black Web 2.0.

If a self-published author/artist/yoga teacher/entrepreneur like myself can embrace and use social media to create a cost-effective marketing and customer communication strategy that builds brand awareness 24 hours a day, seven days a week, then the CEOs need to get on board. Thanks Markus for a great interview with Gina. She is an amazing and authentic person. I am inspired by her efforts and commitment to speaking her truth. The following passage from the interview moved me the most:

"Yes, but I am learning and growing and part of having the power that people THINK I have is being a good steward of that power. Part of having the gift to move people with my words is recognizing that anything in excess can be too much. Part of having all these people gather around me, is recognizing that they aren’t gathering around Gina, they are gathering about the gift. Great article. It makes me think of how I use mindfulness, meditation, yoga, journaling, and breathing exercises to help bring more awareness to my thoughts, feelings, choices, and actions. It also makes me think of my intention to keep an open heart so I can refrain from judging something as right or wrong especially when it comes to other's actions. That's been a great process for me to use this year.

Your interview and article were amazing. Thanks for the resources. I love the Cultural Creatives book. It has been my handbook for years. I feel you on the inner critic. My bodywork masseuse/creativity coaching client Ken encouraged me to embrace my inner critic by inviting her into my heart and asking her in my journaling exercises what she wanted and needed from me. I met her on paper and began to understand that she wants to be heard and treated as a valuable archetype like my other 7 archetype. Her name is Broomhilda. I listen to her and allow her to speak her mind with boundaries. Most of her comments are released from my spirit and transformed into positive energy with support from Spirit and my angels, ancestors, spirit guides, and master teachers. Sometimes Broomhilda does make a good point or two in the midst of her sharing. The loudness of her voice has quieted down now that I honor her in the morning by welcoming her and my other archetypes into my heart.

Great post. I agree with you Chris. Ithink we each have to choose the social media tools and communication strategies that best work for us. Do you is what I say and release the need to judge why others are doing something different. They do what works for them. And that's what makes the world so groovy. We all have different approaches. Learn from others. Take the lessons and information you need for your life and business, and move on as my Internet savvy 69 year old mother with a Facebook account and several email addresses says.

This is a great exercise.

My three words are

Surrender - it reminds me to surrender my ego and need to control the outcome of my services and revenue streams.

Open - it reminds me to be open to new opportunities and experiences with sharing my services and receiving revenue streams from unexpected sources.

Center - it reminds me to keep myself centered with my daily self-care practices of prayer, meditation, yoga, affirmation, physical exercise, and positive thinking and speaking.
