I grew up with my mom telling me that Santa was always watching me and that I had better be good because Santa was watching. When we became Christians, it seemed that she'd made Santa like Jesus. We just didn't want the kids to be confused. I remember the year I found out that Santa was real too... the kids in school told me and I felt so stupid. Then my parents lied about it for another year. The following year I didn't "believe" anymore seemed to be a real downer... like it wasn't special. I didn't want to lie, or make my kids feel stupid for believing in something that wasn't true...

However, as I shared on your facebook, we didn't do a real good job of making some special anticipatory traditions in the place of that. I hope to make up for that now. My older kids have said they're glad that we didn't "do Santa". They've never ruined it for anyone else... but they do wish that we'd done other things.

OH... I so want you to come to Minnesota! Seriously... if you'll consider it, then get back to me... you can see how the crazy lady with 8 children live... your kids could quite possibly never be the same... oh, and we're having Thanksgiving in Minneapolis with the fam... so more kids and fun... and there's never a Thanksgiving that passes when we don't watch "A Christmas Story" (grandpa's favorite)

I agree with Kat... nothing like parenting to truly refine you... when I begin to think it's me that's doing the teaching... I'm reminded that each one was sent to teach me as well (and obviously I have a lot to learn since there's so many teaching me!)

Husband lost his business after 7 years because of construction (he did decorative concrete)... still feeling the ramifications of that... then called into church planting... and currently raising funds for the plant as well as our income... we've raised what was needed, but those who have pledged haven't been consistent (which, of course, directly affects us as well). Our house has been on the market for 2 1/2 years and now we must move closer to where hubby is working because we simply can't afford the gas (Suburban because we have seven kids at home) to drive 40 minutes each day.

We were just talking last night on how our life would be different if we had money... we know God will provide... but some days are so tough... more than others know.

I know that this is already talked about and I'm late... but I have to say that the first thing I thought of was his wife and kids... isn't it horrible that we've become "accustomed to" divorce that we would look at homosexuality as being the "big deal" here?...

How Satan laughs at the site of a christian marriage that dissolves, regardless of how... There is a hurting wife and kids through all of this... but especially a wife. When I read some of the things that he's said about their marriage relationship, I just cry. I can't imagine being her.

YIPEEEEE! PRAISE GOD!!!! There is nothing like the mending of a marriage... I've been praying since the news of the separation... Mike and I grieved terribly and know first hand what adultery does... we don't take sides...

Lord, guide this marriage and protect this couple from the world right now as they seek You to mend the brokenness and hurt. May she be able to forgive completely, and may he build and renew trust again... Lord, heal them... make their marriage what You intended it to be... Cover them Lord... Shield the kids... Pour Yourself into their life now...

Um... just reading that comment up there by my hubby MIKEV who didn't leave a link to his VERY new blog (I'm sure accidently) so being the good wife I am, here it is for all of you to be able to stop by and encourage him as he starts his new trek into the blogsphere while being trained for church planting...

I'm sorry that things are moving slowly as far as the actual weight is coming off... I'm in the same boat and getting frustrated as well, but if I were completely honest (which you know I am) I'm just not eating right still... so how's that going for you? I really wish some people would make some great menu suggestions...

Carlos... we are fundraising too right now... can we ask for prayer for that as well? My husband has been very stressed over it, and today was especially hard. We know the Lord is calling us... but some days are so tough. People have brought us food and given when we least expected. We are amazed by Him. We just need encouragement, and sometimes finances are a "need"...
