in Muzzle those damn bloggers will ya - they’re dangerous on The Inquisitr
Glad to see this story is being picked up over there too. The guy needs to get with it and see how a story like this gets picked up across the world in an instant. I and many other Belgians blogged this because we thought it was needed, and luckily we have a fellow Belgian in the TechChrunch newsroom now. Muzzling bloggers, an outrage.

I never realized why exactly Twitter was so high up and it didn't occur to me that tweets count as content updates.

I suppose that's cool though, since I update there more than on my site.

It's all the same to me. I can be found, if someone wants me, so I'm not sitting waiting for the phone to ring. And, to be honest, I've been using Twitter or Friendfeed themselves as primary search a long time. If I need to find someone or something, it's there that I look first. Good to see Google catch on to that.

Well, I already have my search history on, but I'm looking for a way to make that available online. WebMynd already does a good job at tracking all the pages I visited but I don't think I can share it.

The problem of course is that a user isn't (always) necessarily the sole owner of a computer (families, work, etc.) so the whole idea of serving ads based on stats from a program/machine is - to an extent - pointless. What Google should do is Google me (on Twitter, Friendfeed, etc.) and then serve me ads based on my web activity as soon as I log into the GoogleNet.

I wonder why we haven't seen more 'online browsers' yet; a site that you visit but from then on use as a virtual (stealth) browser within a browser - regardless of the mode - incognito or otherwise - you're in in your 'real' browser. Something like those Anonymizers or what have you. Then again, unless you're hooked up to the backbone, all your traffic still needs to go through your ISP - unless of course you just hack into people's wifi. LULZ!

Thanks Smarr. Yeah, I suppose the sudden confrontation with ads in the first place came as a shock.

All told, I like Chrome - for simple browsing - and I trust it enough to use it. Didn't know about the Google Toolbar though. I've always refused to install that, although I'd like to be able to use a number of its features.

Think you can add the toolbar to Chrome or is that supposed to have toolbar features incorporated?

Indeed, multi-touch is precisely what the MBP rumours are all about. I really want to see more of that.

Thanks for the comment and the compliment.

I have to admit I never answered my own question in the post: I too don't believe this was more than a coincidence.

Still, whatever's been said, and will be said, about this browser holds true in terms of privacy. But just like with any other internet service, you either agree or you don't - and then you look for alternatives; Firefox, for instance.

Chrome is a people's browser: easy, simple and just there to make online life easier. And just like any other people's tool (toolbars etc.) it comes at a price. Same as cookies - although I have to add that I see a cookie as something that's relevant to the site it comes from, not to other services like a feed reader.

Finally, I suppose I (and many other heavy users) will soon switch back to Firefox - if not for its higher customisation capabilities, then for that one addon that Chrome clearly (and evidently) lacked here: adblocker.

Good point. I can see why you need upgrades when technology changes or new technology emerges, but the continuous tinkering with features? Indeed, often that's just a marketing strategy instead of a desire to perfect the app or the UI.

You think Excel is simple? Or spreadsheets in general?

In any case, I never was a fan of spreadsheets anyways.

The pages one was just an example of the way Apple explains procedures, not who it's intended for.

I loved Battlezone. Seem to remember playing it (or some spinoff) on the C64 too. Which, by the way, was a platform that had a lot of pixelated blobs you had to shoot with.

Yeah, there were tons of versions for micro computers and early consoles as well. I remember one based on Empire Strikes back that had blocky AT-ATs walking across the screen and tiny fighter craft that shot pixels at them. 'Fun' indeed.

Me too, guilty on counts one, two and three. Good thing their stuff doesn't "age" quickly; older Apple hardware is cheaper, just as cool and still works great.

Well Joe, seeing how long it took me to reply, you can tell my head is spinning too.

But spinning's good. It's good.

In fact, I was missing my old feeds so, that I re-imported my OPML.

Experiment: failed. That is to say: I now have double the amount of feeds.

Soon I'll be connected to every server on the continent, in the world, and I'll become omniscient. Nay, immortal! I'll become the machine that rules the machines!

Ha ha ha!!!

Ha!

Really? That's interesting because it seemed like a great product (be it too much for what we'd ever need). Thanks for that headsup though. Always nice to get some insights from people who know more about things. For instance, I hadn't even heard of ATutor, so I'll be checking that out. That and the asshat track record of BB of course.

Tom, eliminating the link is a fascinating concept. It's what this entire internet thing was based on in the first place and perhaps, somehow, that needs rethinking. It eludes me what that could be though, for now. I'd love to hear more about that though.

Edwin, thanks, and Mark, thank you too. See you around.

Joe, I haven't really looked into all the things FF3 can do. I like how smart it just seems to have become, but that's about it. I think I should have a go. I do have a couple bookmarks in the bookmarks toolbar though, both at work in FF as at home in Camino.

Tom, it's my pleasure. Seriously though, I think the vast majority of people does that. Most of my friends and acquaintances do, and none of them live in the country, so...

Yeah, the things a couple days off from work can do to you.

I had to check, and it's Delicious Days - also good - so I mended that by subscribing to the equally excellent HER.

But I'm always dying to investigate comics more (and write more about them myself) so I'll be sure to check these out.

Thanks for the reply and the conv.

I am gonna try and record stuff once - then maybe do a high-speed edit or something.
