Keep in mind that the first 'Madden' game came out in 1988. The naming is all based around a single person, and the incrementation is based around the year. Years don't mean much to players and after 20 years of the same game, the name "madden" doesn't mean much to people. The image of a 72 year old football coach just isn't that inspiring to many of us, and for many gamers he was WELL before our time as gamers.

I disagree with samhain about the game pricing. Games in the 80's were often around $50 or so. Yea, there were 'some' cheaper games, but in general you could expect to spend $50 on a game. Pull out your old PC and Commodore magazines and you'll see this being true. $50 from 1986 is worth about $25 today, so its like spending $100 on a game. In short; games have gotten cheaper oddly enough, partially because more people are buying them.

Re: GamerDNA at SXSW 2009

I'll be at SXSW for sure. I'm excited to try out the new heavy stuff. I really need to level up as a Medic at some point to help out more though.

Re: The new face of WAR

Hmm the "Dwarven Gold" looks great. I'm excited about Warhammer online. So many great things coming out over the next few months. 2008 is the year of awesome gaming for sure.

Re: Braid: The Tip of the Indie Trend?

I got braid the other day when I bought my xbox360. I can't believe how good of a game it is. Its unheard of for 2 people to develop a game anymore. It would be absurd most of the time to mention to people the idea of less than a dozen people making any game that would have quality.

And these guys did it right. The game is amazing. It's challenging. It's elegant. I'd say it's the best puzzle game since Myst. The best puzzle game for 15 year, and only $15.

People have complained about the price, but yet don't blink at on-the-shelf games that are of poor quality that are $25 to $60. I don't need a box.

Re: gamerDNA Site Navigation: Redux

When are we going back to the old Guildcafe UI/colors? j/k!

I'm happy to see where things are moving.

Re: The Top of The Times

Oh man... What have you experiences been with this?

Re: Gender Differences in ReTweeting

Sample size?
Margin of error?
How confident do you feel that this was a truly random sample and representative of the overall Twitter population and not just the social media/tech types that follow you?

Re: What does the new Comcast bandwidth cap mean for HD downloads?

Comcast (and most people) aren't considering a few very important facts.

1) In metropolitan cities and college centric areas its not uncommon for 3-6 people to share a connection in a house.

This is HUGE. If each of these are "connected" people, and watch Netflix or download HD movies (always legally of course) then all of a sudden all of these numbers go down considerably. This quickly becomes each person being able to watch 2-3 movies a month instead if you have 6 people in a house/apartment.

Also (unsure of what differences they are allowing for business plans) many offices (I used to work for Time Warner's Road Runner in their business division) use Comcast cable for their business purposes. It's become the "Cheap T3" basically. Your office of 20 people now needs super strict caps on usage to make sure that you're not causing massive overages. 10gb/work day isn't much at all for 20 people to go through. That's 500MB/person.

2) EVEN IF this amount was ok and acceptable today, it won't be acceptable in 2009. Think about your internet usage in 2007 vs today. Thing about your internet in 2007 vs 2006. In 2006 most people were just finding out about Youtube and using it lightly. In 2007 people were starting to use Hulu and other higher quality streaming programs. This year youtube added higher quality streaming and Hulu went "higher-def" (not really HD yet). Every year you roughly double your bandwidth consumption.

In two years, this "250 cap" will be as if it is a 62.5GB cap. That's simply not acceptable.

The speed overall online is increasing. Comcast isn't keeping up. The rest of the world is. Keep in mind the money that we allocated (gave) to the cable companies in the 90's to get us all on SUPER high speed stuff by now. Guess what? They took the money and ran. They can't account for it.

The cable companies are trying to screw us. Bandwidth is getting cheaper and cheaper, and yet they want to gouge us more.

I feel that this is going to simply hand Verizon and instant win wherever FiOS is available. I know if I could get FiOS that I'd get it instantly.
