in FriendFeed is for Lurkers too on Oracle AppsLab
Thanks for the thoughtful writeup, Jake. We are really happy to see how many people are getting immediate value from the search feature. Better appealing to consumers of this content as well as producers has been a top priority of ours since launch, so it makes me really happy to see posts like this :)

in Twitter – Just Because It Is Up Doesn't Make It Reliable on Andy Beard - Internet Business Systems Discussion
Andy, thanks for pointing out this ordering issue. FYI, we are not making calls to the Twitter API in the way you mention, but the ordering issue is annoying independent of the technical details. We will fix the issue this week.
Thanks for using FriendFeed!

Interesting, so if you are storing all the data this is a search play?

Marshall, I promise you our philosophy is in line with yours, and any lack of data is related to a lack of time, not a strategic decision.
Does the FOAF file I linked to above meet your needs? It contains all the people you are subscribed to as well as the services you use. I am not as familiar with OPML, but the available tags in FOAF seemed to fit the data in FriendFeed more directly, which is why it has more data. We would be happy to implement an OPML version of that if folks want it. (Let me know if I am misunderstanding what you are asking for.)

Hey Bret, sorry I left such a hostile comment, I'll have to look at the FOAF file too - I'm sure you know what people would like to take with them if they leave FF. Good luck, M

Dave, I am one of the founders of FriendFeed. I am running out to dinner with my wife, so I can't listen to this now, but I saw on FriendFeed (http://friendfeed.com/e/7c87bd34-f43c-2722-b975...) a discussion about wanting OPML export from FriendFeed. I will listen to the whole thing later, but in case this answers your question, we do support an OPML list of the services people use (http://friendfeed.com/davew?output=opml), and we also support FOAF output for the list of people you are subscribed to as well as the services (http://friendfeed.com/davew/subscriptions?outpu...). Would love you chat with you about FriendFeed at some point if you are interested. My email address is btaylor@friendfeed.com.

Bret, that OPML file contains only the feeds that I brought in with me, not the feeds I subscribed to in FriendFeed. I understand that you work with more than just RSS feeds, but I presumed when I read your comment that you meant I could export the feeds of the friends I'm following. That way, the work I put into your service wouldn't be lost if I decided to go to another lifestreaming service. As it is, you're holding all my subscriptions to yourself - creating a barrier to me leaving. Why do that? Why not just win my loyalty through good faith and superior service?

in Interesting: FriendFeed on Webomatica
Thanks for taking the time to write up feedback, Jason! We are all working on making our service less intimidating to people who don't use a ton of "Web 2.0" sites. In practice, you don't need to contribute much in your feed to benefit from everyone else's feeds, but our service still seems more "producer" oriented than "consumer," which is reflected in your feedback.
I hope we can address your issues well over the next couple months. Thanks again for the post.

in FriendFeed and Plaxo Pulse - FriendFeed Is My Preference and it Reminds Me of Twitter | Charles Hudson's Weblog on Charles Hudson's Blog
Thanks for the nice comments, Charles!
The tricky one is letting people read directly in friendfeed. Publishers/bloggers want the page views and click thrus (I don't care myself)
So you'll have to tread carefully there but I know your users will love not having to click thru and back
