in Hey, we’re big and we’re blogging on Mathew's comments
Honestly, I don't think the creation of a blogging council is going to make much difference at all. There will be lots of talk but little walk. For some companies, it makes sense to blog but many others are reluctant to make the leap because of concerns over competition, disclosure rules, etc.

in Is Wikipedia really in danger? on Mathew's comments
It's like Devouard was begging for money the save way that PBS does from time to time! As for whether a young buck will donate some of their cash to Wikipedia, when was the last time any one of them did some philanthropic?
By the way, I like the new look - much cleaner (and Web 2.0-ish) than the old one..:)

it's dot-com deja vu. what's rohan trying to be, the next henry blodget? what he's doing is just guessing as opposed to doing research based on solid number-crunching. not good, although it does generate lots of publicity.

in Wayne and Garth get financing on Mathew's comments
mathew,
the photo reminded me of the dot-com boom when 20-somethings were pulling in money from investors based on concepts. digg may be a cool service but where's the dough? where's the business model? the digg boys are having the times of their lives, and i give them credit for being at the right place at the right time. it also shows that having money doesn't mean you're any smarter than the rest of us.

in To videoblog or not to videoblog on Scobleizer
robert,
just to clarify my point about production values and video blogging: i think a video blog is more difficult because it has to look good, sound good, feature good content, etc. - whereas a blog post can be quickly hammered out (although good posts have to be crafted)

in Is there an echo in here? on Mathew's comments
there seems to be a groundswell building. it's not quite an anti-techmeme movement but perhaps frustration/fatigue with the same old names being cited all the time. for example, techcrunch is great but after awhile you can't help but wonder why everything cited on techcrunch immediately goes to techmeme. it's like techcrunch is the first, if not the final, word. anyway, i'm with you and trying to write "off the grid" more often.

in A really, really… nice idea on Mathew's comments
i'm with you - maybe all print hacks are aligned - that it's an interesting idea in theory. i do wonder about execution and the mechanics of getting the public involved in the news gathering process. still, it seems like an interesting intellectual experiment and a way for mr. newmark to spend some of his craigslist dollars.
