You can even reserve books via their website, and they mail you when it's ready to pick up! You can tell them where to ship the book (to the library closest to your home OR work) and you can drop it off at any time.

Buying books is for suckers.

Re: The path from specificity to usefulness

The thing that is tricky about all of this, is that a URI sure enough identifies a singular resource. However, that Resource can belong to an infinite amount of classes. That is, the Resource can mean many different things to many different people. This is both a strength and a weakness, and leads to much trickiness when implementing RDF.

The more vague a Resource is defined, the more useful it is, because people don't get caught up in over thinking, "Do I match the intended meanings?"

So, if RDF is to work, implementers have to allow for mechanisms to help humans deal with the many interpretations of the Resources those URIs identify.

Re: Indexes, Hashes & Compression

I've had good experience storing my data in columns. If I sort the data in each column, I'll get very good compression.

Re: Acts as Conference 2009 Attendee Feedback

Thanks very much for sharing these results! I think who (what role) is requesting that change is important. What if the Product Owner is asking for the "pretty quick" change? Does that change anything?

Re: Managers Manage, Leaders Learn to Let Go

Nice distinction, I'd love to hear more from your perspective on this topic.

Re: Managers Cave, Leaders Negotiate

Thanks Robert. I love these posts. I'd really like to hear a dissenting opinion on this, because I think it's excellent discussion material. Keep up the good work.
