I have used both the POD 2.0 and the PODxt Live (floorboard) in live situations. They did fine, but switching back and forth between patches sounded "wrong" to me. For example, using an AC-30 patch for rhythm then switching to higher gain patch for leads sounded pretty unrealistic.

Maybe I just didn't spend enough time tweaking or whatever, but I would rather plug in and play than spend hours (literally) fiddling with menus and buttons to get the sounds right. It gets worse - sometimes after spending one of those hours-long tweaking sessions at home I would go to practice and find that my tone would totally get lost in the mix in a full band situation. Back to the drawing board.

Yes, using an amp with pedals is decidedly less convenient than an all-in-one multi-effects processor, but it works for my situation. If you can manage the volume of a tube amp (attenuator, isolation,etc) and you don't mind lugging it around, it's a great solution.

You might look at a couple of Barber pedals - the LTD and the Small Fry. Also check out the Catalinbread Silver Kiss. You should look for used pedals to stay around the $100 mark. I'm sure that I'll think of some more stuff today - there are so many cool distortion pedals out there.

I saw them with MuteMath and they put on a pretty good show - tight arrangements and great harmonies. They clearly had more time to soundcheck, because their sound was really good. I'm not sure that I would go to see them as headliners, but they were a really good opening act.

I use GoDaddy. I paid about $40 for a year of service, including the domain registration. I didn't shop around too much, but there's a lot of built-in support for multiple web apps.

I don't know - I have to wonder how having "a projector that costs more than most small mortgages" is good stewardship. How does the principle of having the best show in town benefit the Kingdom? Isn't it just a way of bringing consumerism into the Church?

If I didn't have to drive 500 miles every week, I would be in. Of course, This is a club that I was an unknowing member of for many years before I bought my current vehicle (nothing fancy - a Civic).

My wife and I suffered through 3 miscarriages and 1 premature delivery before we allowed God to speak to us and move us to adopt. I was angry with God for a long time. I can't begin to imagine the pain that the Chapman family must be going through.

This reminds me of a music educators conference that I went to a few years ago.

A friend of mine registered for the conference early in the school year and said that his middle name was "Danger" - with the quotes. When he showed up at the conference several months later, his name tag said Bill "Danger" Roberts (I changed his name, btw). Not only that, but since he donated $2 to the scholarship fund, his name was printed in the program - again as Bill "Danger" Roberts. A lot of the music teachers in the district gave him a hard time about that for a long time.

I need to write about this on my own blog.

We got rid of Dish Network (and the DVR) a few months ago. It didn't take too long to get used to it. We still follow a couple of our favorite shows online (via iTunes, etc), but the days of wasting hours on the couch channel surfing are gone. Now we waste hours on the couch in front of our laptops reading blogs.

Yeah, my 6 year old has been a Star Wars geek for over two thirds of his life. He's really excited about the new animated Clone Wars movie, as well as the upcoming Wii game.
