Anyone know if it will work on UK networks, does it come unlocked?, can you just drop any uk sim into it and start using the voice, SMS, GPRS etc..?

barneyc Should do. Haven't checked specs but if it's designed for the Australian networks then it'll work in the UK just fine.

Vlad Works anywhere. Quadband GSM and triband HSDPA. You don't get more than that in one phone now. And yes, me wants one too!

in G1 tariff update on Mobile Industry Review
I walked into my local T-Mobile store and they told me I could get a G1 at £199 for the device plus £20 per month on an 18 month contract. Great if you don't want to get tied down to a big monthly payout. Its only 100 minutes and 100 texts but to be honest I'm only buying it to play around with Android so I'm not interested in all the frills and freebies

Col true, but the 18 months at £30 quid makes it £19 cheaper over the 18 months. (£10 difference x 18 months) plus you get alow extra minutes or texts so the £30 + free phone is probably your best bet.
