If is so trivial to implement than why -not- do it?

Allowing a wider character set for the password allows the user to choose a complex passphrase that they are more likely to remember or more familiar with. I'll bring up the example of the so called "security questions" (used by ING, BoA and half the world). If asked for the "City of your Birth" and you can't enter in "St. Louis" because the tool won't allow the "." (period) than I've just created an exception to something I know and can remember. The next time I'm asked that question I'll screw it up. This is basic usability.

I find it interesting that we continue to argue about this topic. Just the other day I attempted to log into an application and it wouldn't allow me in. My first theory (and the correct one it turned out) was the back end system was an older Oracle system. My password just happened to have an '@' sign in it. Its 2007 and we can't even get escaping the password correct.

wow - are you that naive to think that an impeachment will go forward? Impeachment has -0- chance of happening and this so call 'momentum' is just a distracting from the fact that the democrats have completely failed to get any real legislation through. Bush is gone in 18 months so lets focus on the future.

I usually find these types of letters useful as they show moderate america the real agenda of the radical right ... thankfully they're influence is finally waning. however - to imply that this is what "america" feels about athiests (which is what you are doing) is just plain wrong. being gay I have many friends who are convinced that the trains to take them to the gas chambers will show up any day now and freak out when any little aggression is targeted at someone gay. even with Bush's and Congresses idiotic laws (drug/terror "wars", habious corpus, etc) we (athiest or gay) have never been more free in this country's history. The key is to keep it up attacking and winning the arguments and not to pass FUD.

Finally some sense. the iPhone is not even on my radar (well I do plan on buying one) and it shouldn't until after its released. Out of the risks that we have to manage - its just not high on the list. But that won't stop pundits trying to improve their click-through but releasing FUD.

The only problem I see is a snarky comment by you that suggest he shouldn't be able to use the tools he feels necessary to accomplish his goals. You want him to show up at the conference on a horse dressed in a burlap sack? Give us all a break dude.

This ignores the fact that Apple and AT&T waived the equipment upgrade fee when the 3G was introduced allowing iPhone users to upgrade well before the end of their contract. They will no doubt do this again so this reasoning isn't valid.

I will go one step further and say I outright refuse to purchase a book that isn't available on the Kindle (or other ebook reader). Especially a book like Kennedy's as I doubt I will ever refer back to the book once I've read it (doubtful at this time).
