Oh my, you're describing so much of what attracts me to certain types of fiction! I totally agree though, it's all about the equally strong and smart female, otherwise it just kind of falls flat for me. I guess that's why I loved Buffy so much, oh those were the days. ;) But it did suffer from what you mentioned about sort of being forced into it sometimes. Oy.

This was a great discussion about this sub-genre though! :)

Pam always has a way of zeroing in on the things that really make a difference. I love the idea of talking to your ideal customers and not having any of those "worry" issues crop up.

I've been working on writing more clearly, and more recently on letting my personality shine through too. :)

in 7 Ways to Land Great Consulting Work While In Between Jobs on Twenty Set
This is absolutely phenomenal. Congrats! I've started consulting on a topic that I'm passionate about and that I know a lot about. I think it's great that we don't need to take jobs that aren't right for us, just because "of the economy". Way to go, and thanks for the tips. :)

monicaobrien Nathalie,

Sounds awesome. I think so many people will start turning to freelancing or consulting due to the economy. It's been my favorite job so far - probably because I'm opinionated and like to tell people what to do. :)

in The Pendulum Swings Between Junk Food and Raw Food on Raw Food Switch
@Lance: Thanks, I'm glad you're already including a lot of raw foods. I'm sure your body is thanking you for it. :)

@Martine: Thanks so much! It sounds like you're already doing great, the energy makes a big difference in motivating us to eat healthy. (It's one of my big reasons for raw!)

I'm totally going to be posting yummy raw recipes. I want to make more raw recipe videos, but if I can't film them fast enough I'll probably just post pictures and recipes. :) Thanks for stopping by!

I loved learning about your Engineering story. I studied Engineering too, and there were times where I probably felt like you did. I too wasn't at the top, nor at the bottom.

I thought the story about the fortune teller was extremely interesting. Isn't it weird how sometimes just knowing these things seems to influence how we feel & act? Maybe that's what makes it "work", because it changes our actions. ;) I'm glad you got out of your ditch! :)

in Slideshow: My Story - The Happiness Habit on The Thinkmaya Blog
I think happiness is a habit we need to cultivate. I do think there's a difference between happiness and joy sometimes. I can be happy one moment and sad the next. But if I'm joyful, it's something that comes from within and cannot be affected by outside circumstances. :)

Congrats on your new blog Daniel! I'm sure it will be a wild success. :)

I know stats all get under our skin as bloggers, but sometimes it can be a fun thing to look at.

All the best!

in Are we taking the time to meditate? on The Thinkmaya Blog
I love the idea of meditating with your daughter. I have read about "yoga feeding" which sounds very familiar to your way to radiating love to your child while you feed them quietly.

Thanks for this reminder to make time to meditate. :)

I really enjoyed reading this post. I especially like your honesty with some of these, and I know I need to follow some more closely. Like apologizing and keeping a clear conscience.

Way to go! :)

I'm glad you are using your skills for your own benefit now. I totally know what you mean by being "out of control of your life" when you are working for someone else.

Thanks for stopping by Maya! :)

Wow thank you for the information Ana, I was under the impression she was still with us. I had found out about her in 2007. Thanks again, and sorry for the slip up!

Thanks for stopping by Nebula! I agree with you: people let things get in the way too easily. Sometimes it can be harder to get back into something after we think we are "over the hill" and stuff.

I'm not sure which type of rent asks you to pay more if you make more, but I'm assuming it's only a percentage of your income and not the whole thing?

I've found that being still and silent for at least 5 minutes (sit in bed before you fall asleep) really does wonders to help with stomach issues and stress.

I think you have the answer in your own comment: embrace change. It's something we are all afraid of, but accepting change is part of being courageous. We are all on this planet to learn something. I'm truly sorry to hear about your husband, parents, home, and career. I hope that you will find your own way to make it through, and live your life as best as you can with what you were handed, yet remember that the point of power is in the present.

I recommend Louise Hay's book "You Can Heal Your Life". You can probably find it at your library.

Sincerely,

Nathalie

Great interview! I now have a slew of books to look into. I had never heard of many of these books, despite "lurking in internet marketing" and "lurking in law of attraction/success" type of areas for over 4 years.

Thank you so much, I am really grateful for these resources, and for your honesty!

Thank you for sharing your story Stephen. I've never received a legal letter like that, but I've had situations where freaking out led nowhere, and sitting down to figure things out worked wonders.

I your experience shows that what we worry about is a lot less likely to happen, especially if we take action. :)

Thank you Rosabel. :) I think spending time with children helps a lot too. They just have a more relaxed outlook on life, in general, and they have laughter as a built-in device. ;)
