in Being Your Own Man | The Art of Manliness on Art of Manliness
This advice reminds me of Bob Moawad's Increasing Human Effectiveness training, especially the part about creating positive maxims. Positive self-talk definitely helps to build positive self-image. I also agree wholeheartedly with the advice about reading biographies of great men (and women). Two of my favorites are Plain Speaking about Harry Truman and Theodore Rex about Teddy Roosevelt. Great post - thanks!

Awesome man! Congratulations Tyler on breaking the 100 subscriber mark! I've always enjoyed reading your blog, and I appreciate that you are thoughtful in your posts and cognizant of your blog design and presentation. I also really like the new theme and how it matches what I feel is your vision associated with your blog title (knights and Building Camelot). I don't mind the ads, and I like the content choices you make for the site. Keep up the great work man, and congratulations again!

in What I Learned From A Little Extra Mustard And A Ton Of Traffic on Building Camelot
Dude, that is awesome! It's amazing how one link from a popular site can send tons of traffic, and as you said, while it's kinda cool and a huge opportunity, it's slightly depressing when we don't already get tons of traffic from men wanting to become better husbands and fathers and/or who want to connect with others like them. Great job Tyler!

in The Art of Manliness Weekly Roundup: New Blackberry Edition | The Art of Manliness on Art of Manliness
I just got a new Blackberry too, although I haven't figured everything out with it yet. You'll have to share some tips! Thanks for including the from Husbands & Dads about soothing a crying baby - rum, whiskey, cough syrup...they all work! ;-) (kidding - they are not really part of the recommendations, for those who take things literally)

Thanks for mentioning Husbands & Dads Brett! We're very excited about the new site and H&D Forums community. You do a great job here at AoM, which has become one of my favorite sites to read over the past 6 months. Good luck with your final year of law school. Thanks again!

in Samson and The Pirate Monks By Nate Larkin on Building Camelot
True brotherhood goes a long way in helping men become better men, in my experience. The key is finding people who will accept and support you, while also holding you accountable for your actions. For me, personally, I find that anything that makes you want to live better, whether it be a fraternity or social organization, is a good thing for men to do. As we grow older, men seem to be content in becoming islands (I know I had this problem), but finding a group of good men who you can have true friendship with is very beneficial to leading a better life. Thanks for sharing this book Tyler!

Good tips. Changing diapers on a plane is the worst! I hate small quarters, and it just feels impolite to do it in front of everyone, especially #2.

in Interview With Brett McKay: The Man Behind The Art Of Manliness on Building Camelot
To be honest, I was surprised to learn that AoM hasn't been around for much longer. The nostalgic feel is definitely something that attracted me to, but the content is by far the most interesting thing about the site. I really like the in-depth articles, and I've continued to be impressed with the quality of content overall. Great interview Tyler and Brett!

in Bringing Home A Second Baby - Tips From Real Dads Part I on Building Camelot
Great bunch of advice here. It's a big deal bringing home a baby, especially when you've got a toddler at home waiting. It's a lot to take in, and it's natural to encounter some challenges. We try to make sure that Ty "helps" us with baby Caitlin as much as possible, so he doesn't feel left out. My older daughter Chani also "helps" a lot with the baby to feel included. Babies need so much attention, and it's nice to make the other kids feel valued by asking them to help you. Great series Tyler. Looking forward to reading more.

in What Does Daddyhood Mean To You? | Mommy Daddy Blog on Mommy Daddy Blog
Daddyhood means so much more than being a father to me. I am a biological father, but my kids call me 'dad' for a reason. Dad is a much more involved term to me. I think daddyhood is about making sure that your kids know that you love them, care about them, keep them safe, hold them accountable and teach them how to grow into positive, happy and productive people. I'm sure that daddyhood is very similar to mommyhood, so to speak, but maybe the tactics used by dads are slightly different than those used by mom. I am the kind of dad who loves to wrestle, play, exercise, explore, challenge and protect my kids (in a good way), whereas my wife is much more about nurturing, teaching, creating, cuddling and showing them how to communicate better. Anyway, that's some of what daddyhood means to me - great post topic!
