Unfortunately I won't buy one soon. How do you upgrade stuff like this ? Personally I wouldn't like to change every "phone" jack every 3-4 years. I'd also rather not be limited by the location of the plug.

I very much like the idea of having a complete PC in one chip, but I'd probably limit the products to laptops, automotive and industrial applications.

Re: iPhone and Windows 7 Don’t Play Nice, No Fix in Sight

I can sync music to my ipod but get an error when trying to sync outlook items, "OUtlookSyncClient has stopped working"

Re: Скрытые возможности Word

Re: Fame + Fortune

que guay! vai comezar Benny Hill!

Re: Halloween 2K6

The costume sucks and your a fucking fag.

p.s. Since Paul got hit really hard in the market he is putting the squeeze on many of his start-ups.

As for their contracts, we don't know the details. Is there a set revenue amount or is this based on performance of some kind. Are these deals just "trials" for a set amount of time before the publishers are willing to pay. In a tough economy publishers are not looking to spend money unless they know it generates additional revenue.

This company is particular ran pretty fat. They acquired another start-up right off the bat. They spent a lot of money on fancy chairs, desks, plasma TVs, 3 flat screen monitors per engineer, game consoles, etc. The CEO used to run around town bragging about how much of Paul's money he has to spend and all the toys they have in the office. They also have been on a hiring spree; adding a number of senior execs.

Looks like Paul finally put a stop to it. Surprising to see a company continue to toss money around in such an irresponsible manner these days.

Re: Denis Dyack of Silicon Knights on how cloud computing will impact games

Really great insight into the ramifications of interactive vs non-interactive entertainment on piracy. The only angle I might add is that given very low requirements on the client side then the console makers lose their stranglehold on the market. Right now they are in a similar position to distributors of non-interactive media. However I suppose they can still shift to providing the cloud computing resources but this would be a more competitive market as users would not necessarily be locked into one cloud or another. So they would not necessarily have any sort of unique advantage.

Miramon, the author is saying non-interactive has zero value because due to ability to copy the exact same product infinitely which means there is no scarcity of that digital item. Pork bellies aren't free because there are a limited quantity and they can't be copied.

Re: Denis Dyack of Silicon Knights on how cloud computing will impact games

There will always be demand for non-interactive content. I don't think the author is saying that. But the value of that content is zero because of the lack of scarcity and it's non-interactive digital nature. So for example there is a demand for air, but it's value is zero since it's available everywhere for free. As you point out, the business models for monetizing that type of non-scarce content is not clear.

As for games, there is piracy when you make the entire game available. Then it is like any other digital product. But when you simply host it then it's interactivity becomes the differentiator. For example if I host and stream a movie, somebody can still end up recording it. But if I host a video game then it's not really recordable since you'd be missing the interactive part which is what is important.

The point I think he has made is that only hosted interactive media is piracy proof.

Re: Denis Dyack of Silicon Knights on how cloud computing will impact games

I think you're missing the point. His example about recording someone watching a movie vs recording someone playing a game is to highlight the difference interactivity makes. A movie/book/music is always the same. But a game is interactive so the experience is different for each player. So if you host the game, it's pointless to record a session since people want to play it themselves and not watch someone else playing a game.

By hosting a game you eliminate piracy 100%. Other possibilities also open up. For example you can now render frames at the highest possible quality since the cloud now controls the hardware. Consumers no longer need to purchase the latest graphics cards or consoles in order to get state of the art graphics.

Re: Watch out for “America Deceived” spam

\"The book “America Deceived” does not appear on Amazon...\"

Oh really? If the 8125 is not suppose to use the MediaNet plan why is it configured to do so out of the box. If it is suppose to use the PDA Connect plan you need to go in and reconfigure the connection settings. I am sure here are many customer's that don't relaize this and are paying for the PDA Connect plan when they are actually using the less expensive MediaNet network. Sounds like a scam to me.

Re: Not sat on our hands...

Very nice guys, but also very ignorant about the fact that 1000s owners of iphone 2gs have to wait for you cracking the 3g iphone and making a comfortable programm for this version too... sorry, that is not worth the wait for me, i never doubted the 3g iphone will be hacked too.

But now its too late, since if you would now release a 2g version only you would proove that you had made a mistake in this regard. My understanding was that these were the SVP of Sales BoD presentation. The person who found them gave them to the controller; finance people often are responsible for organizing board materials.

It was the controller who realized the sales numbers didn't match his own numbers. The way this has been reported, that the SVP of Sales has two sets of "books" just isn't accurate.

Anything who thinks companies in 2009 have leather bound "books" with all the accounting information clearly have never held any kind of senior role in a company.

Any ex-Entellium sales person will know that the company always focused on "seats" internally, and the SVP was brought into the BoD meeting to discuss "seats" then left. Then the CEO would bring in the CFO to talk about revenue. PJ/Parrish did the funky conversion between seats and revenue on their own and kept everyone in the dark.

Re: Vista Nightmare: The “Oww!” Starts Now

Advice from Microsoft: defrag your harddrive and all your problems will be solved!

Re: Going Green – MCP Digital Certificates Are Here

if avarice is green
the MS is green

Re: Microsoft is learning from the past

[qoute]i agree with both maskman and PPC M$ seem to think everyone has as much money as them which they were shocked to find out …err no guess they don’t. now rumors are that W7 is going to be a breakdown and reconstruct of windows xp… lets pray to god it is. cause as far as vista went it jumped back to 200o when we had ME i couldn’t even get infected with viruses with that. the only way W7 will hit the market and take off like a rocket is if W7 decides to make 1 frigging version of it no home, home basic, home premiun, buisness blah blah blah. make one make it reasonably priced unlike ultimate and make it useable on the computer i have thats sitting getting dust from 2004 with 512 mb ram 128mb gc pentium 4 proccesor and i mean run SMOOTH no friggin laggy crap[/qoute]

You dont have to run vista, do you?

Re: Newsflash: LEDs Don’t Attract Bugs.

UV-LEDs are available as well, has someone tested the whether those attract bugs ?

Re: Newsflash: LEDs Don’t Attract Bugs.

UV-LEDs are available as well, has someone tested the whether those attract bugs ?

Re: Poetry, reality

Sorry Andrew!
