in The iPhone Isn’t Really Wireless on Social Times
These problems sounded nearly identical to the early issues with the N95.

After enough time, Nokia finally released firmware that overhauled the memory management for full multitasking ability. Like you I was only managing 4 hours or so of a charge when using it heavily, now the battery lasts all day and possibly 2 days. GPS was buggy at first but now works great.

The only point I'm making is while the N95 is awesome (heh) it went through its rough patches and Nokia took plenty of time to use the early adoptors to figure out what is wrong and correct it on the firmware level.

As long as apple has got the underlying hardware right, I think you can expect better battery life and performance as they optimize the firmware. At least I hope so.

So that being said enjoy it and remember the basic way to enhance battery life is to 1.) turn off 3g, you really don't need it, and 2.) set the brightness to a minimum setting.

I hope Apple figures out the mutiltasking thing because that will get annoying, nothing like having several apps running on your phone :D (like on the N95)

Sorry mate a few more quick tips that might give you a better experience on the n95. I am defending this phone because with the new update it is really an amazing device.

1. If you cannot update your n95, google tips on changing the Product Code to a Generic UK or Euro code.

2. If you want a similar zoom in - zoom out - overall page view web browsing experience as the Iphone, install Opera Mini 4. It is new software and is really truly amazing.

3. Google Maps on the N95 is nothing short of spectacular and I recommend you give it a go if its been a while. It uses internal gps and or cell phone towers to fix a signal.

4. I forgot to mention yet another negative of the iPhone - You can't do video calls. All new phones can do it, all my friends with New phones can do it, and here in the UK on o2 you only use your minutes when doing video calls. I guess if you have no friends with this capability then there is no use for it, but in the near future it should be standard on all devices.

Thats about it... just wanted to balance your overal negative n95 review with some positives because honestly the n95 is an incredible device.

Oh yeah, your iphone doesnt have a PowerVR 3d accelerator chip in it, or TV-out as well :P

I imagine your n95 is for sale because you are stuck on a new contract? If you somehow got your iphone unlocked for 900 euros, I would recommend updating your N95 to the new firmware and giving it a proper go. Everything experienced new updates, including the Music Player. It really would do your n95 justice if you updated the firmware. Especially with the new Ngage system coming out you might really reconsider your choice. Did you know, they also rewrote the entire code for the camera drivers and the application has experienced a refresh, it is actually very fast and you can use it no matter what applications are already running.

The GPS gets a lock in under 20 seconds now thanks to assisted GPS, which you have not experienced with 11.x software. I really urge you to give 20.xx a go before you sell. However, I know how compelling the user interface can be on Apple products.

I prefer an unlocked fully customizable operating system such as the S60, which you cannot really argue is far more capable in terms of hardware and software than the Iphone. To each his own though, i'm a bit of a geek :)

I respect your own view, however I would urge you to change the title as " My own little N95 vs iPhone view" instead of Re-view.

Dude, I read this post and I love that your review of everything N95 is "it sucks..." and thats about it.

The N95 is an amazing device if you know how to use it, especially with the 20.xx firmware that was just released. It gives Demand Paging, which is nearly unlimited Ram, better Battery life, and tons of other fixes.

Most notably, can your iPhone do voice over ip calls over 3g or wifi? Or listen to internet radio over 3g from all over the world? Does it have a slot for the upcoming 32 gig SHDC MicroSD card?

How about A2DP Stereo Bluetooth support? MMS? Multitasking?

I think that you have shown you are clearly an Apple fan in this review. It seems you are Wowed by the Apple UI and did not go into any of the features that someone who might be more technologically advanced might, or who would even be interested in taking the time to learn, be interested in. The s60 UI just caters to a different crowd. Don't tell me the N95 cannot handle Music. Some of us prefer to drag and drop mp3 files to our memory card than use a syncing software.

You can't drag and drop unlocked mp3s to the iPhone, can you?

I thought not. To each his own, but IMO an unfair comparison.

in Facebook Beacon Drama Ceases to End on AllFacebook
Hey Nick, whats up its nick!

I think this ceases to end because the fact is that Facebook is changing and people are reacting. Before it used to be OK to have all your information hanging out because the only people that would read it were in SOME SORT Of a University community.

But now Facebook hits 50 million subscribers and opens up to the entire world. I think people just need to adjust and realize that privacy needs to be taken seriously now. I don't believe that Facebook is going down or any doomsday thing like this, I think it has evolved and expanded while most of us are sitting around with our thumbs up our asses because we've been part of facebook for years.

The example of Beacon is a clear reminder to everone on facebook, old or new, that your information is very easily accessible on the platform. Most people are part of a large city network with open profiles and full information which makes their profile completely accessible to anyone.

Remove unnecessary contact or location information, and clean up any information on your profile that you don't want someone to see. Let the advertising bots scan you, because it will be information that you want them to see.

Facebook is experiencing explosive growth and it will be interesting to see how Zuckerberg handles his user base. I don't know if he stole the facebook idea or whatever but the bottom line is that he made it what it is today. Where we go from here he has zero experience with due to his age and is doing everything off the cuff. So far he's choosing money isn't he?
