in Shades of Astray: Why You Shouldn’t Be Calling Yourself Agnostic on dmiessler.com | grep understandingBy your definition, I am an Atheist. I've occasionally called myself that. I also use Agnostic, as I feel it comes closer to saying that I claim no knowledge of the fact of a deity. A lot depends on which aspect I'm trying to reinforce.

in What Do Women Find Sexually Attractive? on dmiessler.com | grep understandingI once explained to a gay friend of mine when he wondered at, for the first time in his life, he was attracted to a woman. Since he was a programmer, I termed it this way: It has eben a long time since Sexuality could be stored in a Boolean.
Anti-homosexual attitudes are a little too vocal amongst men. A case, as the bard said, pf protesting overmuch. I suspect that much of the core of that article would apply to both men and women.
but i find it illogical for gay to be a disorder and lesbian to be normal,
should be both are disorders.
it doesn't matter anyways, cuz woman really dunno wat they like, as if some of the nerves that connects the pussy to the brain has been disconnected.
as u can see from the experiments, they like rape fantasies the most, so the best will be to legalize raping to fulfil their fantasies, only prosecute those rapist that cant achieve orgasm for the woman

in Entering the “Cloud Security” Fray on danielmiessler.com | grep understandingThere is, of course, the multiplicative effect of a compromise in the cloud deployment mechanism. Say they use a VM to deploy on the cloud, and there is an escalation path from the VM out into the cloud hardware, the impact could be large.
Maxo probably has the right approach for personal use, but in order for the Cloud approach to be viable, you have to be able to trust it.
There is always a risk from a monoculture.

in McCain/Palin Supporters Dissected on dmiessler.com | grep understandingDaniel,
This is one of those posts that you should write. Then sit on for a few days. Then reread. Only then should you post it.
I thought that McCain's speech itself was very good. I am looking forward to McCain returning to the person that he was before the election, and not the persona he wore to try and get elected.
This post really is beneath you. Today is a day to celebrate. Don't let your anger ruin that.

in The VP Debate: The Mother of Double Standards on dmiessler.com | grep understandingThis was a Debate that could only hurt either side, but not really help. Both Biden and Palin could have blown it by looking bad. Neither did. Thus is was a tie. Actually, I give a slight nod to Palin, who needed to help patch the hole she made in McCain's ship. She did so: She looked like she was able to debate intelligently and knowledgably, as opposed to her abysmal showing on Katie Couric (and SNL...)
You have to look at it as a game. Based on the sate of the game this week, they both made the necessary moves.
Yes, if Palin had debated better she would have possibly won a few people on over, but really, would that matter? She effectively stopped a really bad trend for McCain, at least until she goofs up again.

in Contemplating Confirmation Bias on dmiessler.com | grep understandingI found that talking politics when I lived in SF was frustrating: everyone agreed. Now that I live in Boston, I run agains far more conservatives everywhere, and it really allows me to examine the issues. I love it. And the nice thing about Boston conservativees: the yare intelligent. They've thought through there positions, and don't tend to fall back on religious arguments.
Of course, far too many of them to regurgitate the talking points that have already been debunked. We can only do so much.

in Watch This and Tell Me Obama Isn’t Something Special on dmiessler.com | grep understandingIf you are in California and support Obama, go to Nevada or Arizona to campaign. Both states are swing states this election.
Personally, I am headed up to NH.
Thanks for posting the video.

in Why I’m Supporting Obama (In Letter Form) on dmiessler.com | grep understandingDaniel,
You are far from perfect, but damn you're good. This is an awesome essay. I plan on pointing people at it to help support my arguments. I think your analysis of McCain's approach to foreign policy is incredibly concise and insightful.
The one thing your essay doesn't address that is probably as import to your philosophy as well as the continued health of this nation is the national debt. We went from surplus to record debt. Aside from the fact that this flys in the face of stated Republican values, it means that more and more of the value of this country is in the hands of foreign nationals. These are the same people whose behavior we need to watch, and watch closely.

in Building a Virtual Server for the House on dmiessler.com | grep understandingRaid in general will increase your failure rate, just provide a way to recover from it. I would recommend straight duplication only, or even skip raid altogether and just have a decent backup strategy.
Also, since you are runing this at home, look at power consumption. Electricity ain't cheap, especially in the Bay Area. A burly server will mean a burly electricity bill.
The real question is, what is the expected load of the servers? Once you have that figured out, the rest is arithmatic.

My point is that it is pointless to hold completely unlikely things to this standard. You presumably don't do that with the Roman Gods, or with Russell's Teapot, so why do it with the Abrahamic Gods?
The only difference between these is the number of people that believe them, not their actual odds of existing.
