It's very web 2 but it ain't honest! Better and more related content than the next guy will, loosely speaking, get you ranked higher in the search engines so, if you've got a money-making site, it's very much in your interest to get people to leave thematically-related comments on your site as much as you can. I blog myself occasionally, on my music site, I won't tell you where as I don't have the content I want to sell on it yet, but when I do, I'll be nofollowing that blog and adding it to all the lists. OK, I know I'll have to be checking for outright spam comments but if you want to make a little money you have to be prepared to do the work.

BB

Re: Are You A Fake Dofollow Blogger?

Why people would lie about dofollow is to get you to create content on their site for free. Sure, the area itself is now way nore upwardly-mobile and better off than previously, and this can truthfully be reported. The people who used to live there don't benefit though, if anything they're penalised by being forced to uproot. This doesn't get reported locally as everyone does it and all local papers have political fealties. This is why it's only the British who can dispassionately and independently report on these matters.

BB

Re: Star Trek Teaser Trailer Now Available Right Here!

I have to say, seeing the NCC1701 move out of the darkness and hearing that music again... the blood runs hot once again :-)

BB

Re: Give Out Some Link Love and Remove NoFollow

Amy asks "... won’t the links become less valuable?"
In the sense of passing link value back to your site, Google-juice if you will, yes they will become less valuable. As more and more links are made from this very page, for example, the PR that's passed by each one will diminish.

BB

Re: Give Out Some Link Love and Remove NoFollow

Andy says "It is a great way to encourage legitimate thought provoking comments, and links from others."

Yes absolutely, and the good thing about that is peer pressure will mean the majority of bloggers will have to at least consider rethinking their nofollow policy or else risk having to write all their own content. The MFA community won't like that!

BB

Re: Give Out Some Link Love and Remove NoFollow

It would be nice actually if the web went back to how it was originally with everyone using dofollow by default but responsibility was exercised by default by posters. I note that Andy has made some longer posts but I have to say you have a problem on this blog, posts over a certain length just cause it to freeze.

BB

Re: Give Out Some Link Love and Remove NoFollow

Ah, mlankton, you emailed me personally or Ben? I get between six/seven thousand emails a week, (my ISP loves me!) and unless you put SEO in capitals in the subject line or similar I'll very probably miss you. I scan the subject lins and thast's it. mostly, everything gets deleted on the server.

But I'm glad to hear that it's not only me having problems posting.

BB

Re: Give Out Some Link Love and Remove NoFollow

Does anyone know where the latest list of dofollow blogs is these days please? From the old one I found a really good blog on finance and related issues where they like what I write and I like the link-juice I get for my SEO clients from it so I go back to it more often than I need to for strictly commercial purposes. I try to remember there's a distinction between a blog and a forum though. Anyhoo, I could use an up-to-date list so I can search out good rewarding blogs on other subjects that will repay my contributions with some linky-lurrrrrrve, baby. Woh yeah :-)

BB

Re: Give Out Some Link Love and Remove NoFollow

Of course it will. Sometimes a blog format isn't the best as a busy one will merge the boundaries between that and with a forum. Perhaps we should start calling ourselves forbloggers or blogrums. Bring on the new software!

BB

Re: Give Out Some Link Love and Remove NoFollow

I think you only need to alter the first instance of anchor text of any link (to any one site). That's the current theory anyway.

BB

Re: Big Thanks to Kieron Donoghue and Unique Blog Designs

Hi, I will readily agree that the colour scheme is appealing but would remind you that if Hemingway came back and blogged it'd probably be almost impenetrable visually but still among the most-read on the planet. I thought SEMPO was a joke when it started, all you needed to get in it was $200, not much of a qualification. There's some kind of loose British association but I looked at it a while back and it just seems to be a boys' club. Like in the playground, you can be in our gang if we like you.
