Interesting concept. I think people are still into saving the planet, but I'm not sure if this will take off. Others have tried to done similar things that didn't take off very well.

in ONE Quick and Dirty Twitter ORM Tip on Brian Carter Social Media Guy
Great tip, Brian.

Nowadays, you really need to watch what you say on Twitter, as even reporters will use what you say on Twitter and quote you in major newspapers like I was recently: http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25...

Wow, Lynne, that's a shame. Sorry to hear that you caught the bug that's going around. Hope I don't "catch it" too.

I've been looking at the site and definitely like how it looks; the search results are "okay", and I'm wondering how/why certain sites show up where they do. But, all in all, I think it's definitely something I'll use in the future.

I thought I'd test it out, as well...only because I have some white space to fill. I'm definitely going to see if there's any traffic, though and perhaps replace it with something else in a few days.

Yeah, it's supposed to be at www.digja.com..but where's the site? All they have is a landing page full of PPC ads??

in Don’t try to use your iPhone inside an Apple store on Scobleizer
Robert, perhaps the Apple employee was referring to their policy that YOU (Robert Scoble) aren't allowed to take photos inside an Apple store.

Perhaps they know that photos that you take are going to end up on the scobleizer blog. LOL

Aren't they supposed to test those types of things? Really! If you had a backup system, or even two of them, shouldn't you test them out once in a while to make sure they're working properly?

RBA Bill, I think they "tested" it today and the test kind of... well... failed.

What's the point on spending all this money on MySpace? Isn't the typical MySpace user under 18 years old and not old enough to vote? I just don't get it?

This is a great marketing campaign--I wish they were doing it to ALL of the 7-Elevens nationwide. I can't wait to see the Simpson's movie.

in Affiliate Marketing gains Sex Appeal on Vinny Lingham's Blog
I agree with your definition of affiliate marketing, but I'm not sure about the "willing to take financial risks" part of it. If an affiliate marketer does the proper background work and keyword research and other research it takes to be successful, then there's really no financial risk involved at all.

Great review...gives me some ideas about doing more on mybloglog and on blogcatalog. The "paid comments" idea is actually a cool one that I have to say I haven't thought of yet.

I can't wait to see what you think about atomic blogging!

in iPhones are here? on Scobleizer
Some had said somewhere that they were going to use armoured trucks to deliver them? Weird that it's only 30 boxes for the Palo Alto store?

Yes, I agree with Chris, too: it's just a phone. But, hopefully, it will change the industry somewhat.

in Report from the line on Scobleizer
Wow, a chance to talk to Bill Atkinson...if I knew he'd be there along with all of the other famous techy geeks, I would have flown in from Dallas just to go stand in line even though I don't plan on getting an iPhone (yet).

Unfortunately, I'm just not one of those "early adopters". I hate to get the first version of a car...they end up making it better a year or two after they come out with it, anyway. ;)

Also, I'm not so sure about the glass and inputting/typing. Since I'm on the road so much and need to dial numbers and respond to emails, I personally prefer the fact that I can actually feel the keys. But maybe it's something you have to get used to?

in 2007/06/28/stumbleupon-facebook-app/ on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
This is really cool, I wish more social networking sites would release their APIs like this so your profile on one would reveal what you've stumbled or added to del.icio.us or dugg or whatever.

As soon as I heard that stumbleupon had a facebook app I added it...which only took about a minute (perhaps less), turns out that it was a piece of cake to just click on the link and it went right over to facebook where I could log in.

in Blogging Full Disclosure Debacle – Grow Some Brass Ones on Andy Beard - Internet Business Systems Discussion
I understand the logic here. But, affiliates chooose to do business or not do business with companies like Clickbank. And it's my opinion that companies like Clickbank can make up any rules they want to. Since the affiliate is not a consumer then they don't have to do business with Clickbank--and vice versa. Clickbank deserves the right to pay or 'not pay' companies or individuals who send them traffic.

A company can decide that their affiliates must have a certain type of link on their site in order to get paid. They can decide whether or not the affiliate must disclose that they're an affiliate. Of course the affiliate shouldn't misrepresent themselves, though.

When it comes to disclosure, I don't personally think the USA's FTC can get involved--this is a business transaction that doesn't necessarily directly involves the consumer. It's a referral...and the consumer clicks on a link and goes on over to another site where such things should be disclosed (like guarantees, warranties, etc. etc.).
