How do you figure out what you have to offer to this New Media society? Do you figure it out before you start offering or is more along the lines of starting and then figuring it out as you go.

Well, turns out building your own system with a CableCARD system in them can be a bit of a... call it pain. ATI does have an external tuner that will take a CableCARD, but it seems that it does not include the ability to deal with HD content. This said, you can buy pre-made systems from HP, Dell, Toshiba, etc. that do support HD natively. As of now, as far as I know, building your own system to deal with CableCARDs and digital cable is not really at all feasible. More research will be done and I will get back to you on this.

The first night she hung out here, I said the same kind of thing to Dave the next morning. He responded the same way. Makes me think that Dave says that kind of stuff to try to pawn off his responsibility of the situation. Make it look like he has no control over anything. I don't know, just thinking out-typing. You know, it's kind of like out-loud, but with typing.

You know. The majority of what I write here is only for my benefit, its how I deal with what's going on. I post it in a public forum for people to understand my thought processes and contribute to the conversation I'm having with myself.

Maybe I should tell people how I feel instead of blogging about it. Maybe I should just keep my trap shut, letting this website drift into the dark depths of abandoned websites. Maybe I should tell you that you completely missed the point of what I was saying and that you should fuck off. I will not do any of those. Well, I might just start blurting out my reactions to situations and see how that goes, but for the most part, I will just continue blogging and thinking about things. If you don't like that, then you are welcome to not come back here.

As far as the email thing. Understand something. I've never really felt that I was truly friends with you and Jason. To me, it felt more like I was a friend through other people. I never really felt that comfortable around either of you, so when you email me, my natural reaction is to just not respond. Yes, I understand that's something I should work on and yes 6 years is a long time.

I don't really like being me, but a lot of the time, I can't help it.

The RG6 is so I have something better than all the RG59U I left in the apartment. And Mike gave me a shit-ton of compression ends so I can actually use all that cable. You know Mike, you met him.

Awesome. I think it would be really cool. We'd have to work on a way to make it different, it's own feel, but I think with some clever planning and thinking, we could create a rather successful show.

I'm starting to really hate HD DVD. The new firmware update for the HD DVD add on for the Xbox 360 turned it into a paperweight that plays Batman Begins and probably DVDs. Microsoft won't replace it because it is "out of warranty." Now, you can't really blame them, but when you make a bad product, you need to buck up.

Sorry about that. Sadly, I am going to have it repaired, but I am getting from "free" money soon so that will balance it out.

I think solid state memory is great for notebook HDDs and pendrives, but not as a disc replacement.

VOD is great too, but then you have to have a pretty decent amount of bandwidth for good quality HD content.

There are rumors of new disc technology that out-does Blu-Ray and HD DVD in both single layer capacity and number of available layers.

Or not. Whatever.

With so many new technologies arising that will make Blu-Ray and HD DVD obsolete in the next five years, I don't see the point in arguing over this.

Hmm. Thanks for the FYI. I will use Netflix and see if I get the same results. I did the firmware upgrade. Turns out all you need to do is just put an HD DVD in the drive and it triggers the update. Presuming, of course, you have the machine connected to Xbox Live.

Yeah, it's supposed to upscale PS1/PS2 games.
