Absolutely, as far as the list is concerned.

I try and make sure all my action-seeking emails are segmented either by bullets or numbers. This way the reader gets:
* something concise (no getting lost in paragraph hell)
* something clear (issue - resolution needed)
* something skimmable (for when they come back to the email).
* Then a call to action.

When I do this I almost invariably get responses about how easy & clear it is to deal with me via email. It means saying "why the hell not?" when someone says "it can't be done."

I've always enjoyed the guidance of that timeless movie, The Princess Bride:

Buttercup: "The Fire Swamp? We can't go in there - we'll never survive!"
Westley: "Don't be silly. Doing more does not equal getting more done if what you are doing is meaningless.

I recommend reading GTD, taking what's useful, ditching the rest ... and living your life. There's good stuff in there. But don't be a slave to a system.

Re: Investigative Report: Tracking Down the Productivity Ninja

I don't want to say too much, as you've all but uncovered my secret identity.

Ah, hell, who am I kidding. It means saying "why the hell not?" when someone says "it can't be done."

I've always enjoyed the guidance of that timeless movie, The Princess Bride:

Buttercup: "The Fire Swamp? We can't go in there - we'll never survive!"
Westley: "Don't be silly. You're only saying that because nobody ever has."

Decide what you want, set your own rules, lather, rinse repeat.

Works for me. :-)

Re: Why The Job-ification of Your Passion Can be the Ticket to Hating Your Life

"It takes putting yourself out there and being willing to fail at something that used to make you feel like a million bucks."

Ain't that the truth. You spend an hour a day on social media to get "attention" and get $50/month in return? A waste.

But if you spend that same amount of time on social media building mailing lists, increasing your reach, etc. ... and you have a way to monetize that ... bingo.

I spend plenty of time building my blog ... but it's allowed me to triple my freelancing rates & generate passive income through my products.

You've got to have more than ego in the mix - you've got to be working for a return on your time investment.
