in The #1 Value that Underlies Everything I Do on Finance Your Freedom on Finance Your Freedom
Holy shit, Clay, you're trying to make MONEY off of this? What the hell are you thinking?
Oh wait, the same thing the rest of us are thinking.
Freedom requires money.
Keep rocking.

in The Ego Economy: Why the Freedom Economy Is Passing You By on Finance Your Freedom
This is precisely why you need to have measurable, relevant goals for how you're spending your time. You spend an hour a day on social media to get "attention" and get $50/month in return? A waste.
But if you spend that same amount of time on social media building mailing lists, increasing your reach, etc. ... and you have a way to monetize that ... bingo.
I spend plenty of time building my blog ... but it's allowed me to triple my freelancing rates & generate passive income through my products.
You've got to have more than ego in the mix - you've got to be working for a return on your time investment.

in Time Management Guru-itis: Mark Hurst vs. David Allen and Tim Ferriss on The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
Good points, and I agree - blanket statements make Hulk want to smash. There is no one perfect approach to time management - it is different for everyone. Successful people will be the ones who read each of the schools of thought you mentioned ... and pick and choose the parts that work for them.

in Example of a Great PR Pitch on Chris Brogan
Best way? Absolutely, as far as the list is concerned.
I try and make sure all my action-seeking emails are segmented either by bullets or numbers. This way the reader gets:
* something concise (no getting lost in paragraph hell)
* something clear (issue - resolution needed)
* something skimmable (for when they come back to the email).
* Then a call to action.
When I do this I almost invariably get responses about how easy & clear it is to deal with me via email. And things get done faster.
(I just wish everyone did this)

@Mark -
Glad you liked the post. Wasn't easy to write, as the song always hits me hard too.
Thanks for the kind words!
Dave Navarro's last blog post..How To Kick That Habit's Ass (When It's Been Beating Yours)
Thanks for making the time to comment here Dave. Sometimes words just jump out and really hit home - yours certainly did with that post. Don't ever accept less than you really should! Mark

Josh,
I blogged on this exact same thing not too long ago. 110% agreement.
Methinks I know your name from long, long ago ... do you know Mark Farmer, by any chance?

in Make your audio offers sound sexier on Duct Tape Marketing
I've been holding back on doing this based on price, but $49 looks attractive ...
One question - without a screen to tell you which track you're on, wouldn't the shuffle be a little confusing for figuring out what tracks are available and where you are?
