I just discovered the site myself not too long ago, and I've spent quite a bit of time at it already. I agree, it is an invaluable community for us GASsy fellows.
also, I've assembled my own set-up kit on my own, but I do wish I could find that nifty case to put it all in...

in How many ways to play the guitar are there? on GuitarFlame.com - Guitar stories from a semi-pro guitar player
I think that maybe the normal way is called "Spanish style"?
Also, there's the Jimi behind-the-head style, Jimi play-with-your-teeth style, SRV's play-behind-your-back style, SRVs use-your-guitar-as-a-surf-board style... that's all I've got for now, so it's off to work.

in So, would you go for a greasy pedal or for a techy guitar processor? on GuitarFlame.com - Guitar stories from a semi-pro guitar player
Pile on the grease!

in Hi, my name is Fender,Leo Fender! I want YOU to build a custom electric guitar on GuitarFlame.com - Guitar stories from a semi-pro guitar player
I rescind my comment about the finish, and would like to change it to a flamed maple top. I hope you guys at Fender haven't already gotten to work on it ;)

I'd have to have the Fender Custom Shop build me a dream strat:
probably a swamp ash body, lefty 21-fret 1-piece maple neck, gold hardware, kluson tuners, 2 point bridge, S-1 switching on my texas specials (which would have to be custom black-cover ones), on a red tigerstripe pickguard and a natural wood nitro finish.
That, or the Wangcaster... tough choice.
oh, and by the way.... stumbled! enjoy the traffic spike! find me on stumbleupon, I'm Mad Stratter there, too.

in Electric guitars should clearly match the musical style on GuitarFlame.com - Guitar stories from a semi-pro guitar player
just pointing out a typo that may cause some confusion: "Fender and Gibson, as the time proved it, fits any gender. "... that is, unless you're talking about the inherent androgyny of the two ;)

Otherwise, great post. I'm playing the guitars I love... two Strats for the blues and rock... Strats are hard to not love.. and a Recording King Rodeo Sweethearts that's got a beautiful bright tone. Take a look at the thing, it just screams country twang (visually and sonicly)

in Hey!!!! I know that guitar!!!!! I think… on GuitarToyBox
I'm surprised you take issue with the inclusion of Bo Diddley... how many other guys do you know who play a shoe-box-with-a-neck-guitar?
It's apparent that they picked the number 28 ahead of time and struggled to meet that quota when they actually started thinking of guitars... they should have kept it to a list of 10 and left out all the fluff.

in Electric guitars or the universe of sound on GuitarFlame.com - Guitar stories from a semi-pro guitar player
sounds like you've got the rock-&-roll-synesthesia!
I sometimes 'see' the guitar sounds, like you say, although I must admit, most of those times have been after a healthy dose of LSD.
Personally, the guitar comes to me in a touchy-feely sorta way more often than visual; kind of like I'm in a rock-&-roller-coaster-cart riding on the ups and downs of that twisty tape of Hendrixocity you're so visually keen on.
keep on exploring that sonic landscape!

Second - http://www.gigmate.com/ has "Just the Case" for $11.95. Since I already have most of the needed tools and too many string sets, I think this option is best for me.
Thanks for reading my blog and as always, yours is a keeper.
