Replace the CRP contracts with the Prarie bio-fuel perrenial mix of Dr. David Tilman from the University of Minnesota, and watch wildlife flourish, bio-fuels become viable, carbon credits expand, and the country side take on a long term winner from every angle. Even our farmer friends would be happy to put the marginal lands in something they plant only 1 time, no fertilizer, weed spraying...just harvest 1 time a year for biomass after the critters have been raised. Please look up the studies through the University of MN and look at what Tilman offers. It makes corn and switch grass look like the non-sustaining monocultures that they are.
