You do realize that this STRONGLY clashes with the option to only use disqus comments when the WP comments are closed? Right now I can chose between no comments at all or WP comments - OR I let disqus handle all comments, which maybe I don't want to do on some older posts.

Ich mache es ja im Moment andersrum - nur englisch und hoffen, daß meine Follower hier in Deutschland kein Problem damit haben. Nur bei @replies bleibe ich dann jeweils in der Sprache.

Was ganz cool wäre, wäre ja, wenn man bei Twitter hinterlegen könnte, in welcher Sprache man spricht und die dann die Tweets on the fly übersetzen und irgendwie sowohl den Originaltweet als auch die Übersetzung anbieten würden. Nambu hat ja schon eine Anbindung an die Google Translation-API, so etwas ähnliches wäre dann auch direkt bei Twitter selbst möglich. Natürlich sind die Übersetzungen dann nicht perfekt, für's Verständnis sollten sie aber reichen.

Ja. Vor dem Redesign war Qype wenigstens eigenständig, inzwischen sieht es ja leider ein bißchen nach SEO-Halde aus. :(

"People need to change" is pretty much the best idea, but just like Google Wave it is kind of an utopia. I don't think, people are going to change much, they are just a lot more comfortable when they can follow a conversation in a language they speak.
I don't get that many comments on Flickr for example - but it is still obvious to me that English comments stop coming in as soon as a few comments are in German. And what's just as amazing - when their are a lot of comments in English already, even people who'd usually comment in German, dare to venture out into the magic land of international communication and use English.
