And yea, agree w/the wireless aspect. I currently have an older pair of Motorola Bluetooth wireless phones but they don't work very well with a helmet and are in-ear. Looking forward to picking some of these!

Re: Wind is Louder than Music

I've heard good things about these bone conduction headphones that don't touch the ear canal at all. Regardless of one's take on iPad vs Surface this move is going to be good for everyone. Competition is a good thing! While the iPad has the overwhelming marketshare, they've definitely taken things at their own (slower) pace because there is no real competition. With another major hardware/software player in the field it will cause the tablet platform to move forward at an even faster pace, and that's good for everyone!

Re: Reflections on one week back in the gym

Cool... That's one of the reason's why I went with the Garmin dedicated GPS bike computer. Dedicated device that's built with the bike in mind and won't eat my phone battery.

I have to do more research on the Polar Blue HR but from what I've read it's the first device to utilize the new "bluetooth smart" (aka bluetooth 4.0) tech. Very very low battery usage. So in theory it uses a fraction of the iPhone's battery that other BT devices would.

http://www.wahoofitness.com...

Re: Reflections on one week back in the gym

Using a bike as a multi-purpose commute / exercise tool would be a wise move IMHO.

Did you get the new Polar Fitness Blue HR? From what I've read this one communicates directly with the iPhone 4S and other bluetooth 4.0 enabled devices w/o need for a third-party dongle. Thinking about picking one up for other non-cycling related cardio.

Re: Reflections on one week back in the gym

One comment regarding: "As far as cardio is concerned, I’d rather have a root canal. There is nothing more boring to me than a treadmill, elliptical machine or stationary bike."

For me it's the complete opposite. I agree having a root canal would be better than any sort of stationary cardio. But I've found similar joy in velocity based outdoor cardio as @mhenslee. The peace, serenity, solitude of cycling alone is a motivational factor for me. I enjoy getting outside and away from my desk. Enjoy trying to beat a previous course time. Enjoy listening to music or a podcast. It's something you'll never find indoors on stationary cardio equipment.

As far as equipment goes, I started with Garmin and love it so far. Most all their sports watches are compatible with heart rate and cadence (bike and shoe) monitors and are GPS based for outdoor activities. If you're really into cycling they are compatible with the new power meters too.

https://buy.garmin.com/shop...

Re: I have a problem.

This is a tough one.... If it weren't for the clothes issue (which I can totally relate to) I'd say be content in the moment with an eventual long-term goal. But like I said, the clothing issue is an interesting one. I started at 245 last March and I had an initial mental goal of 200 lbs. Once I hit that point I was ecstatic and had to buy some clothes as they were too falling off. However, fast forward to today, I'm at 188 and the clothes that I bought 12 pounds ago are now starting to look too big. A good, but not so good problem (with the cost of clothing these days). So like I mentioned to you on Twitter, even though I'm officially out of the overweight classification I'm at the very top of that "average" group. I'm going to shoot for the middle of the group and then regardless of what I mentally think of my weight condition I'm going to stop and exclusively work on toning.

As far as specifically being satisfied, I think you have to look at the big picture (and not loose sight of it in the future). For me I have to remember that I was overweight for 10 years. I tried and tried to loose weight, but my selfishness and lack of self-control prevented me from reaching my goals. Now I'm finally there and not going back. That's a HUGE life change and remembering the former me is enough to keep me satisfied at wherever I'm at now.

Re: CFWheels: Redirecting non-authorized access after login

Awesome!! Just what I needed! The infamous 'appletax'... After having using OS X for the past two years, I would pay a literal Apple Tax before going back to Windows!

This is an article I bookmarked a while back that debunks the majority of the appletax argument. http://www.channelregister....

One of my favorite lines: "Kay doesn't mention a Windows Tax which would include: the need for regular malware-purging system enemas, the time lost in wrestling with an OS that may be improving but still remains recalcitrant, and the bottle of Jägermeister a Windows user needs to keep in his desk drawer to calm those Conficker jitters."

Re: Wygle Wide Web

Yea, this video (and song might I add) rocks!!
