Our country will fail because there are those that believe it more profitable broken, divided and ignorant. "The other side" This guy has been programmed to think of two sides and the America he loves under siege, occupied, not inhabited by all Americans.

We have to be careful to protect free speech, but speech that divides us in such monumental generalizations will destroy us in the end, we need to be made conscious of it and confront it at its source. Any fact-free political bullshit artist who perpetuates "All X is bad and you can only believe Y" should be called out repeatedly, ideally in the same broadcast or article.

Further we need to move beyond binary politics, a big part of this is not excluding 3rd parties from our political debates.

A note on electric heating; resistive is incredibly inefficient, induction heaters can be ~80% efficient, but transitioning household cooking to induction heating would present a learning curve and a price barrier.

Before you get solar, ask if the company has ever traced and fixed a ground fault (or dc arc fault). It's the trickiest problem to track down and maybe what happened here. It shouldn't really take more than a day or two to fix on even a large residential system. Aside from that it can be bad workmanship that creates a problem, I highly recommend going with a company that has installers who have at least an entry-level NABCEP certification.

Today I am absolutely ashamed of my government for 3 reasons, the first is Cliven Bundy still walks free, not having paid his BLM fines. The second is that his idiot son still is allowed to persist with this bullshit in Oregon. And thirdly as so many of the commenters have pointed out this is an amazing crystal clear example of the tiered system of "justice for all" in this country.

Good old whitey from wall st to main st to rural back roads can flaunt federal law and receive not so much as a slap on the wrist. If you've got an AR/AK or a checkbook there's a good chance you and a few friends can get away with it.
This is a disgrace.

I install residential and commercial solar for a living, I have serviced several megawatt sites where modu!e damage has occurred and the modules are landfilled. The worst was literally a rolloff full of frameless thin film modules (so they are 90% glass, hardly any aluminum) after a bad storm exposed construction errors. Breakage on that site resulted in a 14ft trailer every month or so stacked with about 12 modules, off to the dump with the fees payed by the German management company. This is what happens when you buy crap Chinese thin films.

The boxes of the modules had the PV CYCLE logo, so I looked it up, there were No locations even in Arizona. Nobody is going to pay freight to ship broken modules unless it's built into an initial cost structure for the maintenance bid.

The times I have taken conventional modules to regular metal recyclers (framed poly or mono) they really don't like taking them and will give a sub-dirty aluminum price. I would be happy to hear that Pv Cycle has expanded or there is another recycler in the state who doesn't charge $10 per module.

Trust me, I love solar but somebody needs to step up in the state of AZ and take responsibility for cost effective module recycling, the reality is starkly different from the fact stated above at least in my experience.

Nope. The market is indeed working perfectly and its not hated. Once a price floor of about $80 became a reality a few years ago, shale became viable, it wasn't 'found' the technology existed in the 60s, there is very little new about fracking. The market can now support a slightly more expensive way of looking for oil, it didn't prompt the development of the technology, just its wider deployment given the need. When you reduce this argument to simple labeling and name calling its over.

I think its hilarious many folks cite the shale revolution in the US as proof peak oil is bunk. Its actually completely opposite, without high prices and peaking conventional oil supplies, it wouldn't be necessary. When we are expending 1 barrel of oil to find 1.1 barrels of oil, these people will still be playing devils advocate. Know when the ship is about to capsize and get ahead of the curve for chrissakes.
