in Alhambra - The Palace on VirtualWayfarer
Definitely an incredible one. It's a shame the Moors don't get more credit for what they did. It was their actions and the civilization they brought with them to Europe that more or less ended the darkage. Their handiwork had a much more significant impact on Spanish architecture and culture than most people let on.

Wow Nate - this was truly beautiful and an incredible birthday gift. You have, in a profoundly eloquent way, touched on issues that cut to the very core of who we are and the wonderful relationship we share. Working as a unit, I have no doubt in my mind that we can tackle anything, overcome any challenge and will be able to change the world. I am the person I am today because of you. Don't know what I'd do without you bro.
Love you & can't wait to see you! July won't be here soon enough!

Great post with some fantastic points. I think by my last count I was at 25 or 26. That includes places like San Marino, The Vatican etc. which inevitably leads to conversations about what constitutes a country - love the criteria outlined in your post and definitely going to check out MTP!

I cannot wait until I have the opportunity to visit NZ - one of the top places on my list. Such an amazing people and travel culture when interacting with Kiwis abroad. I can only imagine the quality of the experience when that's combined with the amazing natural beauty and setting.
Glad you had an amazing trip. True pleasure travel is an amazing learning experience and phenomenal insight into ones inner self and direction.

That there is, it's an endless challenge to see as much as we can...but I guess that's one of the perks. I imagine your time in the Villages was amazing. One of my next posts will be about a day trip up into the Sierra Nevadas to Guejar - it was amazing.
Eager to see your post =)

in If This Family Of 3 Can Travel The World And Work, Can you? — The Jeanne D’Arc Interview on Mixergy, Startup School
SoulTravelers3 are a wonderful cornerstone of the online travel community and should serve as an ideal model for parents everywhere. Their warm, friendliness and willingness to share is absolutely delightful.
I had the pleasure of spending a year abroad in Europe with my family in 95 (I was 11 at the time) and then 97 RVing across the US in a 32 foot fifth wheel. Travel of this sort is an incredible opportunity. To those concerned about the homeschooling element - don't be. The creative curiosity experiencing the world instills is far more beneficial and powerful than the hours of "learning" your child would otherwise spend in a classroom. After two years of it, I was significantly ahead of my fellow students when I re-integrated into the public school system.
Also, the chance to travel for two years with my parents and brother brought us all together in a way you just don't find all that often anymore.
My only regret is that at the time the technology wasn't there to support the type of media rich, interconnected interaction SoulTraveler3 has put to such astounding use!

Thanks for sharing! I remember watching a special about all of the wrecks and artifacts around that area, but i'm very surprised to hear the extent of it. Sounds like a pretty fascinating cross section of history.

The stray cats add a fun feeling to things don't they? The way they lazily take charge of various sections of the city. Serving as tour guides, security guards and lazy denizens!

That sounds amazing! I'd love to see photos of the place if you get a chance or they have a website. I'm glad it's so popular and has such a great facility. It kinda similar to SALSA! in London?
How different is the dance style over there? Similar basics?

I agree completely. It's a fantastic piece of software - though I won't be using it locally right now I've been hankering for something like this for my travel blogging for a long time. Especially if you could pull a lat/long dump and then plot the path of your entire trip onto a map. Add in lat/long tagged photos/video/blog posts and you've really got an amazing experience that you can truly share!
Also, I think it has amazing implications for news media. With local newspapers in trouble - this poses interesting possibilities.

Marcos and Kim - Thanks for the kind words!
Marcos, it should work. It sounds like a security lock may have been placed on the account/card or that she needs to find a different type of bank ATM. I know some can be a bit picky, though most are fair game.
Best bet is to call and get the details for the card, and make sure that they truly flagged it for international travel.

in The Anti Writer on Andrew Hyde
I've always enjoyed writing so I'm coming from a slightly different school of thought. However, I agree completely on the grammar, spelling and punctuation side of it. I write to write, to formulate and express my ideas. Take them, like them, hate them, leave them. I really don't care. I'll express them how I want, when I want, and the rest is up to the reader. Don't like it? There's not even a door in your way.
The really beautiful thing about blogging though is it really does help me formulate my thoughts. What do I want to write about, how would I put that into words? How would I express that best? Does the idea hold up?
A fantastic tool. I've started doing audio recordings of my blogs as well for the same reason. It helps increase my self awareness.
