Just wanted to say thanks for posting these. I just started listening to msg 1 tonight on a long drive. One thing struck me - 'is there any basis for churches that are not multi-cultural anymore?' ... or something like that he said.

this is one of my favorite stories about my blog.... in the spring of 2005, i met a youth pastor outside of phoenix who was doing some of the same kinds of things with his students. we started linking, commenting, etc. later that spring, he invited me to come out and visit and help him with a community outreach week he was doing with his students. he flew me out [for free] that summer for four days, i hung out with his kids and leaders, helped out with the outreach, crashed in his living room, ate meals with his wife and kids. an amazing time.
we still stay in touch and he's gone on to plant a church and still doing awesome things with his community.

i've been using zip ties for everything of late. bought a vacuum cleaner that was missing screws - zip tie it. lawnmower lost screws - zip tie it. hung a mounted map of south america in my unfinished basement office - yup zip ties baby.

Just a quick note to say thanks for posting that. I appreciated the fact that you don't use the platform or bulletin to get volunteers. I think some churches get so desparate sometimes and those two mediums don't always get the right person in the right role.

I had the same fatherly response - trying to figure out whether to laugh or cry, and then having a conversation about bathroom talk, where she learned it, etc.

Tony - Thanks for posting that. I'm a big fan of MTV, just to watch the influence that they have on students. I wish more people tied to student ministry shared your opinion about what a big influence MTV is on students. Not to say we should style ourselves after them to reach students, but that MTV is an important piece of our culture.

Tom - very interesting stat. I used to watch the VMAs every year but missed them this year - sounds like I wasn't the only one...
