in Weekly Cognitive Bias: Regression to the Mean on Bears Necessity
DeSean Jackson regressed because Nate Longshore was the QB. Nate could not reach DeSean on deep patterns preferring to throw short passes into triple coverage which were often intercepted and returned by the opposition for touchdowns. It amazes me that in 2007-8 CAL had 4 receivers drafted into the NFL, but Longshore was not able to run a good passing attack. You saw the difference in the Air Force game when Riley opened up the passing attack after an ineffective Longshore finally went to the bench.

For regression how about Nate Lonshore! He used to be able to throw a decent pass that got downfield faster than the runner. Now he throws these wounded duck passes that barely make it to wide open receivers. When Nate throws the deep out it seems like it takes forever to get to the sideline. The receivers must feel like signalling for a fair catch. The ball is usually picked off for an interception or the receiver is splattered all over the field by three defenders. Some have suggested Nate is color blind and does not realize he is throwing to the wrong team.

in Week 7 Preliminary Blogpoll: Mid-Major Discrimination on Bears Necessity
Texas should slither out of the top 25. That SNAKE Mac Brown screwed Cal out of a Rose Bowl appearance a few years ago with his back door politics. As you recall we were ahead of Texas, won our final game on the road and mysteriously dropped in the polls. I will always hate that sneaky bastard for sneaky antics.

Avinash Sigh. If only Texas would oblige you and lose five of their next six. But until they fall out, they have to stay right where they are.

Texas and thar SNAKE of a coach should slither out of the top twenty five. He screwed CAL out of a Rose Bowl appearance a few years ago by his sneaky political campaigning. As everyone recalls we were ahead of Texas with one week to go. We WON our game in Louisiana and mysteriously dropped behind Texas. I hate that bastard Brown to this day

in The Great Hype Machine on Bears Necessity
As long as Nate Longshore is in the picture we will not be going to any major Bowl games. The game in Arizona will be close if Nate is at the controls until midway through the fourth quarter when he will throw one of his "wounded duck" passes to the sideline and the defender will intercept and run it to the end zone. God help us if Nate is the QB.Last year we had four receivers drafted into the NFL. Even they could not cover up Nate's shortcomings!

in Cal - Arizona State Report Card on Bears Necessity
A good analysis of the game. I was disappointed when Longshore took the field. It seems Tedford is bound to have this guy on the field. He overthrew a wide open receiver that should have been a touchdown and on another play the receiver was wide open and had to make a diving catch just to get the completion. The only pass he can throw is the sawing pass. Anything over ten yards seems to wobble and drift. It is almost likethe receivers have to call for a fair catch when Nate letts loose. He has a terrible arm and no mobility. Bring back Riley ASAP!

Avinash Yeah, that throw is getting a little wobblier than I remember it. Late in games the throw has a tendency to drift.

I'll have to attest it to Longshore shaking off rust after not playing four quarter for ten months and hope it's not a sign of things to come.

in A Nation of Upsets: Week 5 Blogpoll on Bears Necessity
With this years receiving corp I doubt if either Longshore or Riley will complete any passes. This is the most inept group of receivers I have ever seen. I hope Riley is the choice at QB. He is quicker, a better runner and does not throw all the interceptions that Longshore does. Maybe he can be a running QB

in The Big Play on Bears Necessity
It is true that Riley had 4 pro-type receivers to throw to, but at least he completed passes to them which is more than Longshore can do. Longshore is so slow that he panics and throws lots of interceptions. These interceptions seem to always happen in the fourth quarter. His performance last year against Stanford was one of the worst performances I have ever seen by a Cal QB.

in Open Thread: Which Regular Season Game Are You Looking At? on Bears Necessity
I am looking forward to the CAL ASU game. I can't wait kick the crap out of Dennis Erickson and his thug team. Erickson has always loaded his clubs with JUCO transfers of questionable academic skills. He refined his coaching skills at Miami which as always known for its high academic standards. Erickson is a disgrace to the PAC 10.

in Which Tedford Team Was Your Favorite? on Bears Necessity
The 2004 team with Rogers at the helm was the best Cal team since the 1991 Citrus bowl winning team. They should have gone to the Rose Bowl. They were set to go, but that little f**king weasel Mack Brown slithered his way through the BCS and stole the invitation from us. That year featured the great game against USC in LA. Although they lost the TV commentators said"the best team did not win today".

in How Cal Lost in The Rose Bowl, Part III on Bears Necessity
His ankle was a problem but Longshore locks into a receiver and watches him run his route. This has led to two interceptions which were returned for touchdowns against Arizona and UCLA. Both were "out" patterns that were telegraphed. He is also slow footed and panics when pressure is applied. We need a more mobile accurate QB. Longshore will never lead us to a championship. He had the best receiving corp in the PAC 10 with Hawkins,Jordan,Jackson and two excellent tight ends. As a result we barely made it to a mid level bowl game. Please bring in Kevin Riley!!

in How Cal Lost in The Rose Bowl, Part III on Bears Necessity
Longshore is one of the worst QB's to start for Cal in a long time. His shortcomings were masked for two years by Cal's great running game. When the defenses started shutting down the run and Cal was forced to throw Longshore was not up to the task. Bring in Kevin Riley ASAP. As you point out in the article above Longshore stares at his receiver. This led to critical interceptions that lost games against ASU and UCLA.

in Should College Athletes be Booed? on Bears Necessity
No one should be booing our own players. I was really pissed when people would boo Ayoob. As much as I wanted to boo Longshore I kept my mouth shut. These are college kids playing for their school. If you want to boo go to a pro game. Those guys get paid to get boo's.

USC cheating? I am shocked! Actually I assume they always cheat and have the NCAA in their back pocket. Nothing will happen with either Bush or Mayo . USC will go on cheating, everyone knows that the money is funneled by the alumni and not the school.

in Worst Officiating Calls in College Football, 2007 on Bears Necessity
The PAC 10 is a passing conference because all you have to do is throw the ball and you are guaranteed a completion or a pass interference penalty. The PAC 10 refs get paid by the penalty call. They are the wost referees in the nation. Someone should tell them that the players provide the entertainment not the refs. Whether it is basketball or football they suck!

Castro retired so that he can run for the Berkeley City council. This has been verified by his campaign manager Michael Moore. We are lucky to have an individual with Mr Castro's qualifications ready and willing to assist the City of Berkeley in its fight with the imperialist government of the USA.
