If I were a SpinVox user, or considering becoming one, I would probably like to know the answers to the following:

* What percentage of messages are 100% machine-transcribed?
* What percentage of messages are 100% human-transcribed?
* Of the remaining messages (those which are partially machine and partially human-transcribed), what is the average percentage of the message which requires human transcription?

That said, I'm not sure the answer 'all messages are 100% human transcribed' would actually deter me from using the service, so perhaps I'm not paranoid enough.

This is so cool that it almost makes me want an iPhone. Fortunately I am protected from this folly by the fact that Apple will never release iTunes for Linux.

If he's using a plugin that sources images from Flickr without telling him what their copyright status is, this thread is the gentlest way he could have found out what an incredibly bad idea that is, by a significant margin.

I'd go for removing the plugin, not fixing this one instance. The next person whose work he fails to attribute might not be so polite, nor so liberally licensed in the first place.

In that case you can probably look forward to being sued when you get caught using a fully rights-reserved image taken by a professional photographer.

The reason I liked the N810 is the reason I'm not convinced about the N97... the OS. The N810 has never crashed, ever, in all the time I've owned it, despite my having installed a fairly random range of applications on it. My Nokia Symbian handsets crash on average once or twice a week, and hang non-fatally once or twice a day.

Now admittedly I probably use my phone a hundred times as often as the N810 (although they're both turned on 24/7), but that's still 'lots of crashes' vs 'absolutely none'. I'm really disappointed that Nokia haven't ditched Symbian in favour of working with Android, and as soon as someone puts Android onto some decent hardware on a decent network, I'll be jumping ship.

Incidentally, why are Nokia still shipping top-end phones with mid-range cameras - is the camera from the N82 really too big to fit into the N97? I like the N82 camera, downgrading from it is going to hurt.

Personally I'd be happy if I could find a way to keep sharing my location from my N82 without keeping Google Maps memory-resident 24/7. It asks me if I want to keep sharing my location when I close it, but what it actually keeps sharing is my location at the time I closed it - not my current location.

There's an obvious security risk to routing calls through a third-party. I'd be wary of using such a service for any call involving confidential or financial information - medical helplines and telephone banking, for instance.

Using a look-up site such as http://www.saynoto0870.com/ might be more sensible.

I don't mean this to sound like 'have you checked the printer is connected?' kind of advice, but have you found the view that's accessible by hitting right on the D pad after you launch the application? I'd been using the S60 client for a couple of weeks before I found that view by accident, and my gf also hadn't spotted it until I pointed it out.

I am entirely open to the possibility that we're both mentally incompetent, and everyone else found that view straight-away :) I still think it should be the default though.

The 'what did you have for breakfast' stuff is about "ambient intimacy" - it's useful for social networks, not business ones. I liked Twitter until people started doing their professional networking on it, then I lost interest.

Jaiku solves the reply problem, which is a big BIG bonus on its part. Plus it still sends SMS updates, although they're not configurable on a per-user basis which is a shame.
