in Lessons Learned an Entrepreneurial Endeavor that didn’t work out | Life Putting - Dan Putt on Life Putting
Was GJG the government jobs guides? Sorry to hear it didn't work out -- I liked the concept at a high level....

Yes that was it. It was successful in helping people but we couldn't find the right sales approach and price to make it work, along with some of the things I outlined above we decided it was time to change directions.

Re: "You can learn a lot about a person from the photos they choose as their Profile Pictures." Gretchen Rubin had some other funny examples of this common formulation for trying to size people up:

I like the distinction between "being entrepreneurial" and "being an entrepreneur" as you note. I always talk about entrepreneurship as more a life idea than a business one, more a way of mind than anything else.

Bunch of thoughts here...but my quick reaction is:
1. I keep telling myself I will ask people "Who are you?" instead of "What do you do?" at cocktail parties. Haven't been able to break the habit yet. http://ben.casnocha.com/2006/02/who_are_you_ins...
2. Agreed our generation must deal with the blessing and curse of tons and tons of choice.
3. A commenter here noted how he liked all the different links in this post. But links also embody the very overload of choice you mention -- instead of just reading a five paragraph essay, I read a five paragraph essay with about a dozen micro-decisions ("Should I click the link or not?") that must be made as I go through it....

Great advice.

The best way to maximize your chances of getting rich is to go to NYC and work in finance or law. Your expected return will be much higher than doing a Silicon Valley start-up.
Of course, maximizing chances at being rich isn't the only consideration!!

Hi Tim,
Just a quick thought on the value of being "connected" -- see my recent post on the topic: http://ben.casnocha.com/2007/03/overload_shmove...
I'm not quite convinced that "turning off" is the path to productivity.

Great talking with you! Agreed on the need for this tool -- staying in touch with people and tickler files is tough. Salesforce.com has an auto-check-in kind of tool, which is nice, it's a little bulky for just this task.
