in Canon Announces New Cameras on blog.jr.com
Ah, yes, I see now "...For those who want MORE THAN the typical point and shoot, Canon announced the 50D Digital SLR Camera."

Is it really correct to call the Canon 50D Digital SLR a typical point and shoot? Isn't this an entry level DSLR? 15 mp is pretty big and it looks like a SLR. Also, when are these coming in to JR.com?

in 100 Comments- Mojo for Video on Chris Brogan
Web video content, perhaps more so than other content, is very personal. Because we watch, usually, by ourselves, on a small screen, often listening on headphones, we respond well to one face talking to us or to one voice narrating a simple scene. We trust the duration will be brief, that there will be a well-structured point, that we will gain by taking the few moments to watch and listen. When the video delivers, when we gain a valuable insight, learn a helpful lesson, get a good laugh or experience beauty, our trust is honored. We feel satisfied. If the means to share is intuitive, we'll gladly do it, so our friends may benefit and appreciate us for having provided a service.

in Who Will Bring Us News: Robots, Crowds, or Editors? on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
Add to that, the ability to balance general popularity with trusted sources. Something like, "If 30% of my trusted sources and 20% of general users agree on the importance of a story, I want to see it... Now that I write that, I recall a third-party, custom feed creation service that does just that for Digg. What was that? Can it used for multiple social news and meme tracking services?

in Who Will Bring Us News: Robots, Crowds, or Editors? on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
I'm wondering how the service suggested here differs from Newsvine or Netscape? Is it that the robot & crowd-sourced news comes into the system first, is voted up, then the editors get involved? I don't yet see the best way to do this?

in Why Do New Media Types Like Multiples on Chris Brogan
For me, it is usually because of technical delays. I started as a painter, I'd get to a point on a painting where I had to stop for the paint to dry before I go further with it - I'd pull out another canvas, work for a while. Now, on my projects there are often delays while I wait for others to complete their contribution or to review my progress or perhaps a technical need, like rendering might force a pause. Rather than stop work all together, I prefer to move to another project. This is often mentally refreshing. Another important benefit of maintaining simultaneous multiple open projects is that a breakthrough in one often informs the others - I think it makes for better work altogether.

If we traded Derek across town, he'd probably have a career year, lead the Mets to beat us in a Subway WS.

in Listening to Dave Winer’s talk to NPR types on Scobleizer
As I listened to it, Dave, whom I have great respect and affection for, was much too defensive, did not listen well and much to often put himself in the position of lecturing radio professionals on how they should do their job, when he never claimed to has any knowledge of producing for radio. This was not his finest hour. Especially with the "Music from Hearts of Space" producer. Doesn't Dave remember that guy from KPFA and KALW? Doesn't he think that that guy, who has been producing progressive audio for over 35 years might have a something to say? Dave cut him off with some false issue about streaming and downloading, he never found out what the guy was getting at. I'd would have liked to hear his point. Perhaps it would have provoked an intelligent analysis from Dave or Doc. I have to wonder why you, Bob, are so uncritical of Dave, he'd benefit from more help from his friends. Dave is a brillent guy, but he is not always paying attention.

in Samsung’s Dual Slider Phone has Double the Innovation on blog.jr.com
I wanted to wait to get an iPhone, but now, seeing this, I'm not sure. I hope someone can come up with a comparision of all the smartphones. This is getting to be an extremely interesting product area -- at least, for me.
