in Some Tips to Fine Tune Your Blog for 2008 on Chris Brogan
Having just re-jigged the template on my blog, I had to also decide what to do with the "Daily Links." I supressed them from the blog's front page and recent posts sidebar section - and placed them in a dedicated sidebar. But I continue to push them down the feed. RSS posts are a lot more transitory that main site pages, so I figure if people want them on the site, they are there, and those in the RSS can skip much more easier than the blog readers

...and the first thing that any one with any sense is gonna do is change the product ID code back to the "standard Nokia" value, run the free to download software updated, and get the latest stable firmware from Nokia with all the patches, A-GPS, VOIP activeated and no third party branding or 'funky' tools.

in iPhone vs. Nokia N95 a month later on Scobleizer
Good personal review - and I think that's the key for both camps who'll come to duiscuss this here. Personal is different to everyone, and it is very easy to go from "I like this" to "everyone should get it."
One small correction though :-) the N95 allows you to set six icons on the standby screen for quick access, and the two soft keys to any app. So Google Maps on my N95 *is* one press.

in Goodbye to the music industry … maybe on Scobleizer
Yep, this is for internet streaming of artists registered with SoundExchange t all *IN THE USA* SO internet radio in the UK (for example) isn't affected unless they have significant US presence - UK streaming licencning gives you a 2% leeway of foregin plays before you have to pay the foreign countries.
It also doesn; touch you if you have prior agreement with the artists, so Ioda Promonet, Podsafe Audio, Adam's PMN, Magnatune, all of those sources and more are still cool with podcsting the music.
And given I play three shows every week of new music (http://rock.thepodcastnetwork.com/ for the blatant plug) I think that if people look for music (as opposed to look at the sky being pushed down by the 'big evil labels in the US') they'll find a very healthy scene of playing, listening, discovery and recompense.

in Getting photos from iPhone to Flickr on Scobleizer
First of all, ShoZu is native C++, not Java as I recall. One benefit of Shozu is that you can also upload to FTP, or to YouTube, or Vox, or a number of other services. You're not limited by the built in software. You can even add your own blog. You can also stop it scaling pics, so the full sized N95 pic goes up.
One reason I like Shozu? It syncs the commetns to all your Flickr Pics, so you can read comments on them from the handset.
(And it backs up your contacts if you want to an online database).

in No Java, no Flash, no .NET/Silverlight for iPhone? on Scobleizer
Robert, pick up your N95. Run the we browser. It uses web core, or to translate from English to Job-sian "the full Safari engine." At best the N95 will be able to run Adobe's flash lite runtime as a plugin, but beyond that nope. Given the similar processor speeds and capabilities on iPhone compared to the N95, I'd be very surprised if full flash appears in this iteration.

in “PayPerSpeech” disclosure on Scobleizer
So I have mixed views - yes there's the whole 'evil-ness' of PPP, so at the very leastyou have to figure that by attending you are, to a certain extent, legitimising their view *no matter what you say or what your view is*. That's a personal cost to you and you have to decide whether that is something you are willing to pay. Make no bones about it, by attending you are endorsing PPP and their view.
On the other hand, I do see the view that to change views you have to engage - but PPP have already taken on their funding, their business plan is set, I don't see it majorly diverting at all.
Finally, I'm in agreement with Jason. You (or if you want to split hairs, have PodTech in the middle as a wayman) should have taken the fee and passed it on to charity. You could even have started a conversation here on which charity bloggers would want to support.

in Gadget sites who link… on Scobleizer
Robert - probably for the same reasons as they had before 1) they decided it wasn't approporiate news and 2) they are a competitor per se of PodTech (Weblong Inc as a whole).
To illustrate, I looked at this as news for All About Symbian. I declined to post for a few reasons. 1) it's a pre announcement of a device soon to be DEMO'ed. 2) It's not yet available to the consumer. And 3) with phones now at 8gb capacity internally, 8gb SD cards available, I don't see a 10gb storage device as particularly news-worthy in itself. 20gb, potentially, but I can hit 16gb in a phone with the above card and memory combo. (PS ive a homebrew coder a day and a phone can replicate this peer to peer IMO if it is something the market needs).
I'll sit back and watch teh DEMO, and evaluate it when it's in operation and we can see more content, but right now, this is nothing more than a "coming soon..." trailer, and I *hate* giving my readers the "maybe in the future this is something you might want" pitch.

in “Default” racism on Scobleizer
"America will not vote for a Black President."
"America will not vote for a female President."
From what I see, and talking to my froends across the water, one of these statements is politically incorrect, has inherent racism, and at least people acknowledge it for what it is (even though it is 'other people' who think it), The other is flatly accepted across the board.
I wonder what would happen if (theoretically) a candidate declared his sexuality? Would you be comfortable or not comfortable hearing "America will not vote for a Gay President?"

in Who cares about conference Wifi anymore? on Scobleizer
Well coming from the UK to US conferences means I have no choice but to rely on Wi-Fi in many cases. So for sure some of you can spend all that a month, and write it off, but the point still stands. Maybe with all teh power strips that are thrown out people could just add some old fashioned wired connections we can hardwire into?

in Miles for Minutes on crayon, a new marketing company
So American charge me $27.50 for 1000 miles. Let's say $25 for a 1000 miles to make it easy, and the above gives me 25 miles for a minute. So to get 1000 miles, I'm going to need to watch 40 minutes of adverts and the relevant follow up (say 80 minutes. That's two hours at roughly $12.50 an hour.
I need 60,000 miles to get a return ticket to the USA. so I need to interact for 120 hours to get any value. Wow. Ehrm, it;s not bad, but if they just handed me the $12/hour into paypal (or Linden!) I'd be happier to do it for then.

in Not just rich people buy Playstations and Xbox’s on Scobleizer
Sorry Robert, I can;t agree with this. All my life I;ve lived by a simple bit of budgeting advice from my father. If it's not in your pocket, don't spend it. Okay I need to expand that now as a parent to if it's not in your pocket at the end of the month, don;pt spend it. You might want to have a look at the dange overstretching credit can do - and when the economy slows down (which it will, the US defecit is bigger than, oh, some African countires), it's going to hurt. If an avergae wage couple can spare $150, they'd be best overpaying the mortgage or investing, than buying a games machine and screen.
